I have two guitar pedals, a Big Muff (Electro-Harmonix) and a Distortion (Boss)...both work great but i'm looking for something more...beefy, I want to play music like, Dimmu Borgir, Five Pointe O, In Flames, UnderOATH, Hatebreed, The Offspring, Chiodos etc. I want a Grunge pedal and some pedal for heavy heavy metal, what brand should I look for? What's a good type of pedal for not too much money?

Digitech Grunge is around $40 and has decent gain, is a decent beefy grunge. Then there's the Boss metal zone..., pretty popular IMO.

I've got one of those Digitech pedals that have bout 120 different presets on it.. the model that i got was $200, you can get cheaper models and you can get more expensive models that you can hook up to your computer.... They're really nice to have instead of layin down $50 every time you want a different effect....

I had a bunch of pedals with lots of distortion and over drive but i could still never get the sound i wanted. your best bet is to save up some dough and go get a line6 pod or something similar. I think there worth the 200 to 300 they cost.

i prefer the sound of the old analog pedals. the old boss american metal has a good sound. i find the newer digital stuff just sounds thin. nothing like and old analog pedal thru a good tube head.....nice fat sound that cuts. if you surf ebay alot you can find the old analog stuff now and then. the old big muff (sovtec) makes a killer distortion for bass.

What are you using for an amp? If you already have an amp w/ a decent distortion built-in and has an f/x loop consider an EQ pedal. If you are trying to boost a clean channel I would go with the following:

MXR Double Shot Distortion
MI Audio Tube Zone
Diamond Pedals Fireburst
Line6 Tone Core Ubermetal

The only band you listed that I'm familiar with is Korn and I think these could be pretty good at getting that sound (not knowing what amp you are using of course).

Here's a great site for gear and anything else music related

I'm actually using a bass amp :( I started playing bass about theree years ago and got a bass amp, then my brother got a new guitar so he gave em his old one a couple of months ago. I don't really have the money for a new amp, and the money I do get goes straight into my quad.

Yeah, The dan electro's are cheap, and sound decent. My friend got one from GC for around $20 on a special.

I used a Boss Metal Zone with my Ibanez RG and I loved it, too bad the guitar is in pieces and I sold my fender amp :(
