If I go with a 13.5:1, do i need to repalce with heavy duty head studs? Also how about the 12:1?

I would, I would also not run a stock rod with that compression.

a must with 13.5:1, and 12:1 is really pushing it on the stock one. also, Ginxd00 said i would get a new rod atleast with the 13.5:1.

im still undecided, i cant find a freaking 416 thats 12:1 anywhere on ebay....its all 440 kits....i dont really believe in having to have the largest amount of CC's, i think you can work most of it out with gearing and tire size....i might end up going with an 11:1, they seem to be cheaper, and more avaiable, what about studs on those?

The size of the bore doesn't really make a difference :ermm:

I think you will be ok with stock studs on 11.1 CR.

i know the bore size doesnt matter, but they come in kits with the correct rings, and some with correct sleeve....i dont want to hassle with exchanging parts

My 2 pennies:

If you are bumping comression at all, go ahead and get a new rod, HD studs and make sure to run efficient octane ratings........look at it this way, you can bump your compression to 13.5 and not buy a new rod or HD head studs (which will be easier to do now because you are allready inside the engine) or you can have a hassle with blowing head gaskets or even worse.....breaking a rod, which will be very costly, so if your going to do it, you might as well save you some time and money from the git go.

*Steps off the soap box* :p

I think im going to go with an 11:1 ratio wiseco 416 kit....I dont feel like splitting the case, and the crank to replace the rod....Although, in the future, i'll probably end up doing it sometime or another....

Im running a 426 kit with 11:1 AND i RUN 50/50 GAS. However, I blew a head gasket last summer. I haven't decided if it was due to warping of the head, of If I really need to add the HD head studs. I dunno. either way you need to disassemble at least the top end.
