i run my 400 for less than a minute and check the oil it is perfect.
then after riding for about 20 minutes hard i check it agian and its almost over flowing. is this normal.
i have a tc 425 kit and mx cam
i run 20w 50 honda oil

As you run the engine and heat up the oil, the oil will expand. I would guess that is what you are seeing.

with the dry sump system, the oil tank will sometimes seem overfilled (after running). this is ok.

get it hot and ride it for a couple of minutes. then let it sit for 5 to 10 mins. it should be fine then.

i know when the temp rises the oil expands
i just didn't know if this was normal
when is the propper time to check the oil

To check oil start and let run for about five minutes but dont give it any throttle during that time. Shut off engine and check.

yeah what fearthisracer said...i had the same prob when i first got my ex...till the mechanic smacked me in the head with a 15 mm wrench and set me straight....check the engine oil on a level surface while engine is at operating temp...at idle....do not rev I remember that part...because when you rev..or stop to check the oil after riding...the pump is still in circulation...not in the tank..while its idle....not that much oil is flowing...therefore giving you a more accurate reading...
