I had one and I loved it. It was fast, comfortable, reliable and the handling was unbeatable , but like all things...you have to move on eventually :( ;)

250r track and dunes. you can make a 250r just as good as a dune bike as a banshee if you really wanted to dump that much money into one.

I will say the 250r right now because they still produce banshees. After they stop making them then they both wil be. 250r are fore sure though because they were designed over 20 years ago and from what I have heard they are a great quad. Plus it doesn't hurt that it is a 2 stroke.

Both are quad Legends. Just about everybody knows what a banshee and 250r is.

i would say both. they both have been around for 20+ yrs, they both have amazing engines, both are 2 strokes.

i think the banshee is better known because there are more of them, and they have duel cylinders...but...and this is a big but...i am only talking about newbies to the sport when i say that.

if you have been around, then they are both equally known. i prefer the 250R just because i am a Honda guy

The 250R will always be the ATV all others are judged by.

I say the 250r is the quad of legends, its what every new quad is designed after, set the standard for the brakes and handling(some agrue the 4 pokes handle better). The atv that started it for the era of standard chassis, motor and suspension is the 85 atc250r, compared to modern forks, they need alot of improvement, but the rear suspension is still on par. The atv that started the performance era was the 81 atc250r. Its funny, these new people forget what started the atv's of now. The first liquid cooled 2 stroke atv motor(for honda) was in the 85 250r, the kawaski and yamaha motors were basically dirtbike motor with minor changes. The 85 250r started the pro-link suspension, that continued on to the trx250r's. What many of these new poeple don't/want to know either is that the 85 350x, was the first big bore 4 stroke atv motor that later became very similar to xr400r, then trx400ex. These new poeple need to know that these 450's, might be the current thing, but the original and standard that the 450's were built to dated back to 85. Many will agree that the 400ex doesn't compare to the 250r's.

I bet I will still have my 3 and 4 wheeled 250r's also. I don't plan on getting rid of them anytime soon and I will be improving them with more recent easier to get parts too, the build for my atc250r will be starting it: custom frame, 450r pegs and brake stuff, cr250r forks, nerf bars, however all the rest will be atc/trx 250r stuff for now.

The 250r had a 4 year production run. If had been in production as long as the Banshee what do you think the results have been?

just another quad that was rip roaring fast is what it would have been...

as for the quadzilla. it was very fast...but it didnt compare in the handling, suspension, or reliability to the R

250r for mx and the banshee for drags and dunes.

wilkin250r

We know the 250r is legendary.

But anybody that says the banshee isn't also legendary never stood at the base of a dune hill or sand drag and watched a 100HP banshee scream through the gears and turn every head within earshot (and for as loud as they are, LOTS of heads are within earshot).

I've seen some nice 250Rs, but honestly, how many have you seen with $30,000 into them? Maybe one? And it was never ridden? I've seen lots of banshees pushing those kinds of dollar figures, and they ARE ridden...

I think alot of that has to do with Banshee being the machine to have in a dragrace. Who wants to put alot of money into lightweight frames, axles, a-arms, etc. on a quad that will never really be as fast the next Banshee?

I would have to say the banshee.

Before I was into 4 wheelers I knew what a banshee was before a 250r.
