Any word on who protested?

bradley300
03-04-2007, 03:17 PM
according to how the rulles read, everythig he did is totally legal. slippery slope to call it a production frame for sure, but as the rules read, he did nothing wrong

GE4x4
03-04-2007, 03:22 PM
Those production rules were not there awhile ago. In fact if you look at the top of the page, the production rule shows nothing for the front a arms. Yet you go down to the pro rules and in italic, they have news rules added like a after thought. When was that added. Anytime new rules are added, there in red. Well this is new and not in red.

this was brought up before the season. he had this quad at the dealer show. if someone is waiting now to protest, i think it's lame. if you have a problem with it, hash it out before we race, not after the checker is thrown. i would be careful calling him a cheater. put him on anyone elses quad and he will still be tough to beat. jmo. btw, maybe it's a 2008 chassis? just like the kawi's

Quick Overview of Pro Race

Duane Johnson Grabbed the Holeshot with Borich and Yokley starting almost dead last

Brandon Ballance took over the lead several turns into the race and lead for several laps followed by Bill. In the 3rd lap, Brandon overshot the bern at the end of pit row and end up in the swamp, which sent him back several positions.

Borich and Yokley charged their way through the pack and collided together when Borich ran into a lapper and Yokley rear ended him, which put Borich's rear tires on Yokley handlebars, but the reverse on the KFX450 quickly seperated the pair and they were off again.

Bill Ballance looked awesome and was riding as smooth as ever and held a huge lead till the finish, but it tooks it toll on him. After the race, he went to the hospital for dehydration.

Borich finished in second place

Taylor Kiser rounded out the podium, which was awesome for the Florida Native in his Pro Class Debut. Also, Ryan Morphew finished in 5th place afte a rough start as well

Chris Borich protested Ballance for having a highly modified frame in the front end, and I haven't heard the ruling

William Yokley finished out the day in 4th place, and he is really excited up the upcoming race in Georgia where the KFX should net him a podium finish.

Michael Houston, Brent Sturdivant, Jarrod McClure collided in the first lap, which broke off the shock mount on Hoston's YFZ450 and Brent also was out of the race. Jarrod completed the race, but wasn't 100%

Matt Smiley was on the Honda and blew his rear early in the race.

Bryan Baker was riding hard on the Polaris Outlaw 525 and finished 11th right behind Andy Lagzdins

John Natalie Jr charged hard in the top 3 overall the first two laps, but he pulled out of the race to avoid blisters before the ATVA MX Nationals next weekend.

bradley300

actually, harlen has him listed as 10th overall, but 3 in front of him were in the sportman class, so officially he should be 7th overall, awesome!

With the 3 Sportman class riders in front of him, would not that make him 7th overall since Sportsman don't count?

161xchonda
03-04-2007, 05:51 PM
The youth production class 13-15 lines up on the last row which is really a hassle. We have to because of ATVA rules. Dealing with all the traffic is a pain in the butt. Maybe they can get us moved up some rows if we continue to do good. Good job Walker.

3. XC1 & XC2 (ATV): (0-525cc). Fuel tanks are limited to a 4-gallon maximum capacity. OEM motor and matching frame combination model required. Engine modifications, frame reinforcements, and f rame modifications creating longer rear-wheel travel or altering front A-arm and shock pivot point locations, are permitted.

Walker will be a champion, I dont think he knows how to fail! It was awesome watching him work his way through the field!

Sorry for the off angle pics, I was caught in a tight spot with my big lens and had to do what I had to do:eek2:

A few thoughts before I crash off to sleep....at 4:30 am

1. I am to old to drive over 70 with a trailer (or to chicken these days, I tried hanging with Chad Duvall on I95 but he still likes to go fast I see!)

2. 4 cups of coffee at the Waffle House WILL get you home

3. Leaving 70 degree weather, returning to 18 degree weather SUCKS!

4. I need goggles to take pictures in Florida

5. Cody pointed out what he thought was a "Lot Lizard" while we were paying for fuel, only to be quickly informed she was the cashiers Mom:chinese: No worries, I think Cody could have taken him:devil:

Well, I may be new to this game, and believe me I don't know much about all this crap, but you are NOT allowed to protest until the bike has entered the race. You can have a modified frame at Indy, and at the track, but not get on and race that particular bike. All I know is the rule change seems quite conveniently timed. I also understand that the last time something even minut was changed, there was a 3 hour meeting/discussion after the banquet. Does this mean LAEGER is back??? Mr. Ballance is obviously excellent at this sport, however the rules should not be changed to suit one individual... Or one bike company! I'm sorry to havta see the politics behind this sport!!!

GE4x4
03-12-2007, 05:08 PM
I just look at it this way. Some have said there is no advantage to what he did. So if it has no advantage, then the question would be, why was it done? Why cause contraversy(sp) over it if it has no advantage? Ballance is the best racer right now, but I think it's stupid for him to continue to race this quad that is going to cause uproar at every race. If he does win his 8th, will this tarnish it?
