i have the oppertunity to get hotcams, but that is the only performance part i have. from a 40+ year engine builder he said it will make my bike slower because you have to get an exhaust to make it breath better. is there any of you guys out there that have just done hotcams without the exhaust, and how did u like it. should i get the exhaust first?

any help would be greatly appreciated

I would get the exhaust first, unless your getting a deal on the hot cam. But like he said it would be kind of pointless if you put that cam in and didnt let it work to its full potential.

throw on a sparks.dasa, or rossier exhaust and you can't go wrong

Ya get the exhaust, take ur air box lid off before you get the cam.

Cam is useless on a corked up bike.

I recently asked a former HotCams employee this very question. The answer? The stock camshaft is very restrictive. Stock exhaust or not, a new cam WILL MAKE A MEANINGFUL AND NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE.

you could get the hrc header and tip to go with the hot cam at a good price i think c&d could hook you up with them. i have the tip for an 06-07. that would help the cam do its job.

the 2006s only have the hrc head pipe and i already pulled out the baffle, it is already too late because i ordered the cam this morning.

my bike will be similar to the hrc kit when im done, im going to pull the air box lid and rejet, then ill put in the cam, and i already have the exhaust uncorked

ur really should browse ebay and look for a cheap used 06 hrc header to go with that cam- u may have uncorked that stock silencer - (and planning on jetting and removing the air box lid) but the hrc header is larger diameter- which will help the exhaust flow better in addition to that cam!

i know that but i have a 2005 model that wont work with 2006s, plus i will just save up enough for a rossier of dasa to get the most i can

get the cam and remove air box lid , spark arrestor and get a jet kit for the extra fuel needed. IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERANCE. i put the hotcam stage 2 in my 05 with stock exhaust and it made a big differance. it will give more and its cheaper. the cam was the first thing i did. the exhaust was the last thing i relaced.

i totally agree i put it in my 04 and the bottom end is crazy. couldn't ask for any more. it does suffer a little on top but the bottom end pull is what i use
