I don't know what you mean by old and new, but there are 2 different kinds. One is for a LoneStar style pro pegged frame. The other is for a stock style frame.
The difference is the stock style frame still connects to each other through the frame in front of the motor.

AC Racing has a new line of Nerfs out called the blackline. They don't list them on their site, but they do exist for the 250r. The main diff is that with the Blackline you can replace just the footpeg portion. Meaning once it is worn down, just call up AC racing and get a raplacement.

I don't think they are made for 88/89 frames, I have never seen them listed, only 86/87.

what I think your looking for is that the old style used a skinny peg with a rounded end, and the newer style has the wider peg with a square end.

They are made for both frames. The only diference is the frame mount. I have 88/89 Pro Pegs for an OEM frame on my Arens.

The new style pro pegs also have a kickup on the wider pegs.

I can't get the new ones anywhere, I'm told either backordered or discontinued. I have the old ones, I don't like the peg much.

I got mine from the seller ATV Galaxy (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AC-Racing-Pro-Pegs-Nerf-Bars-Honda-250R-TRX_W0QQitemZ4541110296QQihZ002QQcategoryZ43972QQr dZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem) on Ebay.

I haven't researched this but I was told you can monkey-wrench a set 450R pro pegs with Heelguards onto a 250R. Are the newer pro pegs with replaceable cleats for the pegs availabe for the 250R?

those are ones I want, they list them for 86/87 250r's, not 88/89. I tried to get wider peg ones for 88/89...discontinued, I found a web site that had them for sale....2 months backordered. I might go and buy the x-factor ones, they are expensive though. The problem I have with that auction is that 86/87 and 88/89 are different foot peg mounts, he doesn't specifiy for what style of peg they fit.

All you have to do is tell him the year of your frame if you choose to prucahse from him. He list the pro pegs for all years because physically both frames use the same pro pegs but different rear mounts. The pro pegs from my old '86 frame fit directly onto my Arens frame that has '88-'89 peg mounts. I have the correct pro peg adapter on both frames.

Remember this pro peg thread (http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=166803&perpage=15&highlight=nerfs&pagenumber=1)?

I e-mailed AC and asked them if they make a set with heel guards for the 88 250R. I also asked them If I need to modify a set, then what would I need to do. I will post their responce as soon as I get it.

I just got off the phone with Eric at AC Racing and he told me you only need one modification to the 450R propegs with the heal guards to make them work on a 250R. You need to cut off the front mount and relocate it where the front motor mount is, using the front bolt.

Second you DO NEED TO specify what year 250R you have due to the ORIGINAL 86-87 and the ORIGINAL 88-89 having two different footpeg mounts. YOU MUST SPECIFY WHAT YEAR 250R YOU HAVE!!!!!!!

Eric also said they WILL NOT be making any for a 250R due to lack of interest. It's all about damand, and there is just not any for 250R nerfs.

That's it!

Simple!

why would you have to tell them what year r you have if your buying 450 nerfs.do they make them in the differant style for the 250r customer?

No, the mounts for the foot pegs are different.

All years of the 450R are the same.

The 86 and 87 are the same.

The 88 and 89 are the same.

SO YOU MUST TELL THEM WHAT YEAR 250R YOU HAVE, SO THEY CAN SEND THE ADAPTOR PLATES TO MAKE THE FOOT PEGS FIT.
