Who makes Nerf Bars, WITH Heel Guards for my 88 250r? I would prefer NO plastic heel guards.

I need them, cause I'm gonna teach my wife to ride. I don't want her to slip off the pegs and chew up the back and front of her legs on the tires and footpegs.

as far as i know nobody makes the nerfs with the heal guards like they make for the 450s...

the only route i know of is to buy IMS pegs, heal guards, and then seperate nerfs... and then youre into them like $600... and i know people have modded the 450r ones to work as well...

me, i just made some custom heal guards to mount up to my pro pegs...

If you are going for looks dont use em. If your going for safety have someone fab. them. If you don't wanna have to do that then buy some stocks

I contacted AC Racing and they told me that they don't and will not make nerf bars with heel guards on them. They however did say that you can easily modify the ones made for the 450R. All you have to do is to remove the front mounting tab that mounts to the engine bracket and move it back and in 1 inch. Then reweld it back into place. Simple modification.

I may go ahead and do this, I just cant believe they wont make them for the 250R.

i had some that were originally for a predator, the foot peg mount just needed to but cut off and rewelded on 1 inch foreward and 1 inch down. it was reall comfortable how it was.

Using the footpegs is a very good idea and truly i would rather have them and take the time to moddify them to fit than not have them. This parly being i have a few welders by profession that i could have do it. n e ways tell us what you do and lets see em.

i think i'm going to do this also for my 89 what i want to know is this , how do the 450r nerfs mount up at the peg end , is it already the same as the 88/89 250r peg fitment or does that need adapting too ? anyone got a pic of how 450r propegs fit on ?

Man I called AC Racing and it is taking forever to get my set-up. They are making the peg mounts for my 88 frame, so I can use the Blackline searies on my 88 250R.

My nerfbars are the yfz450 nerfbars from pro armor.

I have the 88-89 frame

All you need to do is drill 2 holes or weld 2 things on each footpeg to bolt them on.

Front mount is just al small plate

I had the job done in 30minutes

I'll post some pics

I saw how close they were to fitting, not close at all. I tried them on my 88 250r, I then put on the 88/89 Ac pro-pegs. I have a set of 450r pro-pegs that are gonna be going on my atc250r. The guy who built the frame, designed the frame to use 450r pegs. So, the peg placements are very similar to what stock 85/86 250r pegs were. There is some work to get them on the atc250r frame, cutting them back some and extending the brackets to attach to the engine cradle, I think the inter-connecting tube will have to be cut out.

did you get the relocated 1" back pegs?, on mine they don't sit like that. I didn't get the relocated pegs, I want more weight to go on the front end to help in turning and keeping the front end down(if you have ever ridden a hi-horse atc250r, you will know what I'm talking about).

Sorry it has been so long since I have replied. So here is the final product of the modifications I had to do to get the Blackline ProPegs from a 450r to fit my 88 250r. Once again I would never do this again due to the heavy modifiactions needed. The guys at AC Racing didn't have a clue on what it would take to modify the nerf bars to fit. Also the angles on the mounts did not line up on my friends 450r. They obviously dont have the correct jig or even use one for thier products. My AC front bumper mounts didn't even come close to being in the right location and they had to be cut off and rewelded to the correct location. Here are the photos of the nerf bars modidfications:

Setup looks good, but you have the footpeg backwards. The kickup should go to the outside of the bike. Also, I've noticed that if you run the nets between the footpeg and the pipe, it will help keep the from sagging as much and catching on stuff.
But, like I said, looks good so far. Hope they work out for ya.

I will go outside and see if I left the footpeg backwards right now......

Yup...I did! OOPS!!!! I might have done that due to the clearance issue of the bolt. I am not sure. I will have to take them off later today and see how they mount up the correct way.

Oh my goodness, please stop quoting the pictures!!!

AC Racing is terrible, I wish I could replace all my AC parts with something else, but options are limited. Nothing AC does is ever consistent. They sent me heel guards for my daughter's DRR, they are all jagged, and terrible. Looks like my 6 year old ground them. SHARP EDGES FOR MY KID'S QUADS! Terrible. What shocks me even more is that people keep buying from them...
