This is just the beginning , these things always move to the rest of the country after the whackos figure out how to implement them..

With the present make up in congress these people will grow in strength.

I hope you all read and sign this petition. I'm number 24879 on the list!

If you post a comment on the petition keep it clean and civil..Bad comments will only cancel the effect of the petition.

http://www.petitiononline.com/boxer/petition.html

This site has over 62,000 members so we should be able to get at least half that number to sign the thing!!!

You're right!

As of right now, our last beach in Cali ( Pismo ) that we can ride on will be closed, June 2008.

It seems that the West and East coast sets the trends. So the rest of you should watch very closely what your local/state goverments are doing to your sport.

Open up your wallets and help pay for your state OHV legal reps. It's your only chance!

The point is, if they can close Pismo, Glamis won't be far behind. Then what's stopping them from closing everything!?!?

The Imperial Sand dunes or Glamis is a billion dollar industry. There is no way it will ever be shut down. Too many people have and intrest in their livelyhood due to the sand people.

Do you really think the "tree huggers" give a crap about that?

mrshoer
03-02-2007, 09:55 PM
The truth is (treehugers) they don't. You can justify all you want. The Sierra Club and others don't care. They have enough recources to carry their campain as far as they want.

If you wanna sit on your fat *** and not contribute, that's fine. But don't you dare ***** when we lose it!!!!

All we OHV users need to do is raise money for the Friggin attorney's so that we at least have a say in the matter!

Right now, . . . Pismo is gone!!! Unless we can generate more funds. Beg, steal, borrow whatever you can to help.

I don't know but it's scary!

The last time I checked, an individual or group that controls all was called communism.

Come on guys and gals, I've watched Pismo shrink from a huge riders paradise to now closing it in 2008. Even if your out of state, help out our fellow brothers and sisters in California by making your voice heard.

We need to support everyone in every state. Riding areas are shrinking everywhere. Next they'll work on shuttin' down our race tracks.

Without legal areas, prepare for unlawful riding. Just let us have FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats wut I put, if you can't ride there people will ride on each others property.

The sand was put there by God for a reason!

My comment was simple, the larger the riding area the less chance of overcrowding and accidents.

That is sooo true. There have been 3 large riding areas shut down in Ohio due to the noise in the last year!!

Your kidding right? Over the past several decades at least 29 sand dune areas in the US have been closed to OHV use. Some of those 29 are small areas but not all. The Kelso Dunes (in San Bernardino County, CA) is 130,000 acreas. For perspective of how big that is, the currently open areas in the ISDRA is about 64,000 acres. Imagine if there was another Glamis we could go to. There would be if Kelso was open.

The California Desert Protection Act of 1994 closed massive areas of CA to OHV use. If anyone thinks similar legislation couldn't be passed again, wake up! The OHV community's apathy is its own worst enemy. I realize that duning is more popular now than it's ever been--and with popularity comes $$$. And where there's $$$ there is influence. But the sand car builders, toy hauler manufactures, ORBA, et al aren't that influential.

My main point here is that taking a casual attitude and perpetuating the idea that there's "nothing to worry about" will be our downfall. The only reason Glamis isn't already closed is because there are people out there FIGHTING to keep it open.

Quick story: I met a guy from New York state that donates $10,000 per year to the Sierra Club. I asked him about what he thought of the Sierra Club's position on the ISDRA. He had no idea about Glamis, OHV use, the struggle to keep it open, etc. He just blindly gives money because he wants to "protect the environment". I'm sure there are thousands more out there like him--rich people who blindly give money to enviro groups. How many poeple have you met that have given $10,000 to the ASA (http://www.americansandassociation.org/) ? I've met zero.

Keeping OHV areas open is an uphill battle. Don't relax and get complacent or it will be too late....

Seriously, if you don't act on every issue in your area, you won't have a Glamis or Dumont to care about. It's pretty simple.

GPracer2500- You are absolutley correct! People are giving donations not knowing what's really happening other than helping to keep the earth green.

Sierra Club is only second to the NRA and we know how large the NRA is. These two groups can spend more money in one lobby day than the Glamis Dunes makes all year. Annual OHV events make a lot of money but it ain't that much!

Every year, SC chips a little more land away. Soon it will have control. Then they'll move on to another state, ie CO, NY, IL, etc, etc..... What pisses me off is that there is no compramise. It's the Sc way or no way. I call this communism.

This goes on constantly in the circles of people with large incomes........it's called a tax write off. These organizations are listed as nonprofit organizations and get donations just for the sake of being a write off.

It might help to get the word out about the nonprofit groups out there who work to open and keep open riding areas.
