I am rebuilding a 300EX and need help getting the right number teeth for what I looking to use the bike for. I have two sets of rear tires, one set is 22x12-9 Bearclaws for trail riding and other is 18x9.5-8 Turf Tamers for drag racing. I want to be able to run both tires on the same set-up. Any suggestions?

13/38 for the 22's

14/36 or 14/35 on the 18's

I'd get 2 chains and 2 sets of sprockets.. and swap them out.

Your other option would be to get 20's for both. ;)

or 18's and 20's and jsut run 14/36 on the 18's and 13/36 on the 20's. Just loose up the chain and swap out the front sprocket.

The issue with going with 20'S on the trail is ground clearance the extra inch the 22 give is needed a lot where I ride. I was thinking along the lines of the 13/38. I was not sure what that would do when I put the 18's on. I was also thinking about 13/36 and hopefully that would even it out a little. I do not want to have to change out the chain and sprocket when I change tires.

I've also been thinking about using a 13x36 or 14x36 setup on my bike. For they guys out there running 36 tooth rear sprockets, what size chain are you using? Did you have to shorten the stock chain?
