View Full Version : how many hours to install a cam?

I'm having my dealer install a "hot" cam on my 2005 450r how many hours should it take him? There rate is $85 an hour.

i wouldnt pay him more than an hr. taking off the plastic and tank is the hardest part!!

Purchase a clymer and do it yourself. Its not that hard and its the cheapest and best way to learn.;)

if you dont want to do it your self just, take the plastics and tank off before you take it in. its easy to do and it will cut back on the labor time. when ever i have motor work done i just take them my motor. just to give you an idea of what you could save. they told me a top end rebuild would be around $300, if i only brought the motor it would be right around 150-200.

Yup, strip it down. ;) Do all the time consuming easy stuff first. You will want the tank to go with the quad though. I'm assuming since you don't want to do the cam youself.. you're going to want them to rejet the quad for you too. ;)
