what is the best year to have and are all years interchangeable?

Most people say that 88' and 89' are the best to have.
Most everything is interchangeable except for the swinger and a couple of other parts.

well an 86/87 swinger can be put on an 88/89, but an 88/89 cant be put on an 86/87.
