ok in two weeks im going to my house in new jersey and im going to be putting together a cj 5, however ill be converting a 73 cj 5 engine into a 79 cj 5 frame and wiring harness. first question is will the 79 wiring harness work for the 73 engine(im guessing it will) and second question would be which shop manual should i get(im thinking the 79 one) and finally where is a good cheap place to get a shop manual. thanks for any help

Any auto parts stores will have the haynes and chilton manual that you need.. The wire harness will work. Check out the frame real good. They are prone to rotting out. Have you checked out 4wdhardware yet. They are the jeep specialist.

I actually hear that the factory service manuals are best for Jeeps.

Yeah they're great except for that $130 or so price tag

well the jeep sits with the engine in the frame with some body work done, basically i have to hook up the wiring harness and gas tank and im sure a few other little things to get it running. i heard that the chiltons strong point is the wiring and that would be my weak point. my goal is to get the beast started and i have 9 days to do so.
