Ok, so when i go to turn my quad over my battery acts like its going dead...ill go to start it and the battery will fade away till it wont turn at all...i know that my battery isnt dead because i put it in a different 4-wheeler and it started right up. I tested my battery and its puttin out 12.7 volts. It will start when i put it on the battery chargwer and hit it with start mode. So why wont it start without a charger?

Check your connections, & your ground wires. If either of those are faulty it may cause this. Other then that, sounds like it should work fine.

This same thing happened to me this weekend, take both wires off of the battery and clean them up good, and then check the ground by the battery. even if they look ok, go ahead and take a wire brush to them. make the metal shiny where they touch. and i am willing to bet that fixes your problem

Try jumping the sylinoid with a screw driver if it works then you have a bad sylinoid. Also check the fuses

check the ground conection to the frame, make sure nothings in between the connection and the frame (such as paint, dirt etc..)

The ground on the battery grounds the frame to the battery, everything else grounds to the frame, and then to the battery.

Check everything that deals with the starting the quad, from battery to starter to frame and check the bolt connections for proper ground.

It sounds like to me your battery is weak.

A good battery shouldn't go dead that quick. If all else fails, have you swapped batteries from another quad to yours (I know you did the opposite) Your's may be requiring more power to start than the other quad you swapped to and your battery may just be a little too weak to turn it over fast enough to start it.

Other than that, you said you've done the obvious (checking grounds, I like emory cloth better than a steel brush). Was there any wires that were corroded? One of the cables could be corroded under the insulation where you can't see it as well.

I hope you find it soon, there's nothing more I hate than electrical problems.

I didnt try to put the other quad's battey in mine. I will try that tommorow. But heres what i tried 2 days ago. I left my battery on trickle charge (2amp) all night and all day till about 3 oclock. I came home from school and took it off charge, it started on its own power. I rode about 2-3 miles, shut it off for about 5 mins and it started on its own power again. I tried to start it on its own power today without charging it last night and it wont. So im thinking there might be a small leak in my battery. What do you guys think?

p.s- once again i want to thank everyone for their help

yeah deff sounds like the battery, or you still have a current draw after you turn it off, but it's unlikley.
