My '06 hesitates when you mash the throttle so I was thinking about messing with the jetting a bit. I go to the dealer where I bought it from and ask to get some jets (pilot & main) for an '06 TRX450R with an FCR carb. Well the people behind the desk told me they have no idea where I got the idea of getting jets for an "RCR" carb for my dirtbike.:huh :huh . After explaining it to them again they still give me a deer in the headlights look. At the time all of service (the "smarter" people who work their are at taking lunch so I ended up going home. SOOO, if anyone wants to help me out on some jets or can direct me in the right direction on where to find a few, i'd really appreciate it.

i avoid going to dealers when ever possible. they are over priced and usually know nothing to help me out. i found a place close to me called percision powersports which is just like magic racing or rockymountain but i can go there instead of dealers now and they are actually helpful!

you might be better off buying individual jets online from somewhere, half the price as a dealer.

"deer in the headlights look?":D :D, yeah man ive been there thats just like this gay little rink-a-dink honda shop here where i live and i have to drive like 90miles to where i got my R to get stuff, and honda says to go to your "authorized" dealer....thats a gas. but your R sounds like a jet problem and good luck with it.

Yeah i don't like dealing with the dealers. When i was waiting for the 06 to come out i called often to fing out when they got one and one guy told me that they just got the 06 elec start and it came with "reverse" LOL!!! They really don't know what to do when it comes to aftermaket parts. I wanted a 180 jet once and they told me it would be a week. You think that they would stock that kind of thing.

Change the leak jet (sometimes called a bypass jet) to a smaller size. The HRC kit comes with a 55 vs. the stock 70.

Leak jets work opposite other jets: smaller numbers = richer; larger numbers = leaner.

If you thought getting mains and pilots from the dealer was amusing, try asking for a leak jet :p .

This should help though....Honda part number for a #55 leak jet is 99108-MEB-0550, a #45 is 99108-KRN-0450, and a #40 is 99108-KRN-0400.

Also, Yamaha part numbers for Keihin leak jets: 4JT-1494F-XX-00. Replace the XX in that number to get these various sizes (e.g. a 50 leak jet is 4JT-1494F-07-00):

#130 XX = 33
#120 XX = 31
#110 XX = 29
#100 XX = 27
#90 XX = 23
#80 XX = 19
#70 XX = 15
#60 XX = 11
#50 XX = 07
#40 XX = 03
#35 XX = 01

If you want to skip the dealer there are online sources for jets. Motorcyclecarbs.com (http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/index.cfm) , for example, carries most every jet available.

Thanks for all the help guys. I just got back from that dealer and talked to a more knowledgable person and the only jets I could find were a 122 main and a 55 pilot. I will be running no airbox lid, stock filter and im just gonna remove the core from the exhaust. It runs good all the time but when I crack the throttle, it'll cut out (with the 120 main and 42 pilot jets, core in and lid on). So what do you guys reccomend with no lid and core for the leak jet?

55 leak is what the CRF dirtbike has as the leak jet!

Try that out. I think it was like $9 from my dealer for each one.

Should I change the leak jet while its apart? Also, where can I get a tool to adjust the air/fuel screw?

mine is jetted for no lid, no core in the exhaust (but i did put the sparky back in), in the summer i was running a 165 main, crf needle: 3rd clip, stock 42 pilot and 55 leak, it was a bit lean though for winter riding so i picked up a 168 main, i'm around 1000ft...hope this gives ya a good starting point

The 2006 HRC kit does come with a leak jet. I would assume the 2007 kit also comes with one.

This is from the 2006 HRC manual:

So if I put the 122 in, it would probably be a waste of time? Should I put the 55 pilot jet in?

Yeah Nate, it makes a difference, if you are in KC, come by and pick mine up and try it out, my bike is not running so I don't need it right now.

the 55 pilot will be way to big IMO I put in a 45 and love it. 160 main (summer) CRF needle 3rd clip and it runs like a champ.

when i bought my 2006 450 straight from the dealer i had a bogging problem from 1/2 throttle and up the bike would just cut out. my bike was completely stock and brand new so i brought it to the dealer and all they did was the clean the carb and now its perfect so you might try cleaning the carb.

honda shops usually cater to only dirtbikes, or streetbikes. Most guys in there know nothing about quads.

This dealer is strictly Honda & Harley. pretty much everyone there has tattoo's all over their bodies and rides a harley. The younger guys that work there know 100X's as much as the older guys.
