Ok...last night I decided to make my own frame to hold a CR250 engine. I already kinda have it layed out on paper but not compleatly. Yes I know that there will be some vibration but I think I have a way to fix that... I think? Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? Also how much would some 4120 chrome-moly steal cost me? How many feet about will i need for this project? I have all the tools to bend the metal and welders to. I plan to work after school to get the money to build this and some next summer. So Im really in no hurry to get ideas but I just want to get alot of them. Are there any dos and donts to building a frame? I plan to use my 250x as a idea on how to build it, sort of like a jig I guess you could say. Im sure I forgot something here but i can add it later. Any help you could give me i would appriciate it! Thanks.

later,
kicken

Perhaps looking up, and blowing up pictures of aftermarket and stock frames to get ideas on what bends and curves you want.

I would find a sorta "junk" 250R stock frame, and copy it. (so you can get it cheap)

I'm no frame expert, but I do know it takes a LONG time and a good bit of know-how to build a frame. Why not just find a good used frame and adapt it? Or better yet, a complete quad with a blown engine and drop a engine in it?

In one of the ATV Sport mags, there was a guy in there who made a frame for the CR250, and it didn't vibrate all that much once you punched the throttle, he described the frame as a "cradle" type frame, it was really cool, and lighter than other aftermarket frames.
