How good is the stock swingarm for a R? Is it worth it to just go ahead and buy an aftermarket one now while I am building the bike up?

Go with an aftermarket one, new they aren't bad, but 15-20 yrs old, they aren't much good. I got 2 stock swingarms, one new and another hardly ridden. I have broke 2 85-87 swingarms.

I've had used Laegers -2's on both of my 250r's and never had a problem.

A Laegers or Walsh Racecraft stock 88-89 length swingarm is what you want.

I broke two of them on my 250R, and a friend broke his on a 400EX. It seems that all Lonestar swingarms crack in the same place.

thanks yall! I thought I heard Laeger was getting rid of all of their 250R stuff? I could be mistaken though. Ill look for one of those 2 swingarms. Isnt the 88-89 swingarm 1" shorter than the 86-87?
