today i was out riding in the snow. we got about 8 inches overnight and the wind was blowing 6 ft drifts. so i was out having a good timewhen my machine started running funny. when i let off the trottle it died. i started it right back up and kept riding. a few minutes later it died again. and when i sarted up it idled fine but if i gave it any throttle it would sputter, backfire, and die. to get it back to my house i would have to pin the throttleand pop the clutch to get it to stay running. my dad thinks its water in the gas, but i want to know what you guys think. it is a stock moter and i change the oil once a month and clean the air filter every other ride. thanks for your input.

Airbox lid off? If so, I'd say snow coated your filter and prevented air from entering the carb starving it of air needed for combustion.
