Hey everyone-

I was hoping to get some help in choosing a new 4x4 quad to replace my z-400. I have decided to go with a mid-size 4x4, and the dealer is going to make me a sweet deal on a new one. They will give me $5700.00 for my 2006 LTZ400 toward retail price of a 4x4 of my choice or they will give me $4100 toward wholesale price of a 4x4 of my choice.

All of my quad riding has been done on sport quads, so I don't really know what to expect with the 4x4. The reason I am switching is that I think that the new quad will be better in the winter than my Z, and I can get a rear rack seat that will accommodate my 5 year old so we can trail ride together. Right now taking him out on his Z-50 and me on the Z-400 is not really working out, and he likes to go as a passenger when he can. My dealer says they can order a back box/seat that will mount on the rear rack and hold 176 lbs, and since he is about 50 lbs, this setup should work (although legally they cannot tell me it is a good idea;) )

I am looking at the KingQuad 450 and the Vinson. I have always liked Suzuki products, and after sitting on many different models, I find I like the seat and handlebar position of the Suzuki bikes the best anyway. My question is; what bike would you recommend, and can you give me pros/cons about the bikes that are out there?

Any info is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks

Jerry

If your thinking about selling your Z and buy a 4x4 just for the winter I wouldn't do it... This winter is about to be over and you will be mad at yourself in the spring.....
If you do buy a 4x4 you can't go wrong with a Grizzly 450

It won't be just for winter riding. It'll be for warm weather trail riding, too. Last year I would load up both Z's (400 and 50) and we would go thru some local trails, but his 50 isn't big enough to really ride with me, so I wound up putting around in first gear and pulling his bike out of every rut imaginable. It lead to a lot of frustration for both of us and NO FUN. This past weekend I took him out on my MXZ Rev with the 1+1 seat, and as a passenger he was very comfortable trail riding at 40 mph. We saw a lot of 4x4's on the trail and that got me thinking that trading the Z for a 4x4 that we could both fit on would allow us to trail ride together no matter what the season; snow, muddy, whatever. So that's why I'm considering trading the Z. He is not happy when I take off on the Z by myself, and getting a larger machine would allow me more time to ride if I can take him with me.

I will check out the Grizzly.

hahaha, i was looking into a 4x4 too, just for fun, mudding, and on so. ive grown away from racing, so i just want something to mess around on

i was looking into hondas new rancher 420efi

you cant beat the features for the price. liquid cooled, efi, shifting tranny, 4x4, cool styling. all for a cheap price.

my second choice was the new wolverine for its sport looks, but that wouldnt be good for you seeing as you want a rack for usage

Yea the Rancher is a really good choice, and just as someone has said before, it has many options for a good price. If not that, that are some nice looking Arctic Cats. Many people dont like the cats, but they look really nice and handle great too. My 2002 AC 375 4x4 is awesome, imagine the new ones. Or Polaris, they has a great Sportsman 500.

Switching to a 4x4 was probably one of the best decisions I ever made . I've put on more miles in 1 year of owning a 4x4 than I did in all my years of owning sport quads .

My girlfriend and myself can go out and enjoy our weekends and ride for hours worry free . We bought a passenger seat and footpegs and it's actually more comfortable to sit in the back than it is to be driving .

I own a Grizzly 660 and love it , but if you like the feel of the Suzuki , then I say go with it . All 4x4's are pretty much equal ... other than engine displacement .

Go with what feels the best , and I swear you won't regret ever getting rid of the sport bike .

I have both a 400ex and a KQ 700 and I love them both but to tell you the truth I ride the KQ alot more. If you are looking for a KQ 700 check out the site nyrocatv.com it has some good info.
