i do not think there is a best kind of shock. you can spend a lot of money in this area. i would first have to ask you what your budget was, and then i could start to recommend or tell you what to look at. You could have your stockers rebuilt for like a couple hundred or buy top of the line axis for like 1500. The price varies and everyone is going to have a different opinion about front shocks. I have elkas and i like them but i have never ridden on fox or axis so i could not recommend anything but elkas right now.

Good Luck!

are they going to be your first set of shocks? are you buying a-arms also? i would recomend if they are your first set of shocks to get the stockers rebuilt, ive heard very good things about the rebbuilds and for the price you cant go wrong, however if you have enough money and are willing to spend it then you should go with pep, axis, or motowoz imo these are the top three brands

go with some PEP thats are about 700-800. Then spend the rest on a arms and brake lines.

Hey--- u didnt specify if the 1000-1500 was for shocks, a arms and brakelines or just for the shocks alone--------

or if you were gonna race mx or xc -- and if u wanted std or long travel set up=====

so here is my ideas for both---

MX_----

for a total limit of $1500

Elka triple rate C/R with +2 std travel housers--- ( $1250.)
GT thunder revalve respring rebuilds & +2 housers ( $900.)

now if you were racing XC and did not necessarily need long travel front end----- you should just get the front dual rate and revalve as well as the rear linkage and revalve for a total of about $750=== (gt thunder works miracles with stock shocks)

so basically if you race mx-- u could still have $600 left for motorwork to compliment the suspension-- and if XC- u would have $750-- leaving plenty of extra cash for bolt on motor improvements such as full exhaust,, or mild port w/ a piston and cam-----

but if you went with long travel a arms-- ( $950) that would only leave you with $550 for shocks-- which u may be able to get rather close to if you watch ebay for used shocks-- but that would be compromising valving for application for price!!!

so there you go------ modifications on a budget!!!!!!!!!

yes, the only reason I didnt mention rebuilds was that I would go with Long Travel if you have that kind of money. Other wise if you go with ST, send the shocks to Derisi Racing.

Talk to KB Motorsports, a sponsor on this forum.
Ask him for a price on Motowoz LT with SMC LT A-Arms.

You'll get more for your money then you think =)

Heh
Many people run them, and they have a life time warranty.

GIXXER1KR uses them, see the picture he posted above.
