is it worth it to buy a new shee to be sure how it was treated or is it cheaper to buy a used one and question the intelegence of the previous owner. i am goin to mod mine and im kinda leanin toward a new one cuz it would suck to put all that on it and it jus break and tear every thing else up. and the monthly payments wouldnt be that bad either.

IMO used. At least here in OH a 1-2 year old one is going for $3-3.5k easy. With the savings you can buy a heck of a lot of hop-ups. They haven't changed at all really in the last half dozen years. Just be selective. Good luck.....

NEW NEW NEW! Good choice on the banshee... They RIP
if you know how fix em with out going to the dealer all the time you can save major bank. you can spend a few bills to fix lil things and use the other money to buy more hop ups. plus you can pick from colors they dont make currently
i got my 97 used. it needed rear swingarm and wheel bearings. but oter than that it was fine. i missed them in my inspection before buying it. the sales man was glaring at me like i was some anal retentive so i didn't check it like i wanted to. i just checked the major items. back when i bought it i paid half of new and it was barely two years old.
dont make this mistake though i bought the bearings at the dealer:eek: i paid $40 TO $50 for each bearingand close to that for seals:eek:  spent $400.00 and found i could have gotten them aftermarket for a $100.00 or at a local bearing supplier for $65.00:eek:

If you are wanting a used banshee I would be very skeptical about looking just because banshees dont hold up all that well! Just my thoughts.

Just my thoughts. since when do they not hold up all that well? any machine will fall apart if it hasnt received good maintnence. ive seen some pretty ratty 400ex's so dont even go there.
if you wanna buy it used, look for a stock one. that usually shows that it wasnt raced or beaten on.

I think either way is fine but you can certainly save some cash on a used one. With my riding buddies it's about a 1/2 mix of who purchased new and who purchased used. If you go the used route just make sure to really look the bike over and be patient. Don't just jump into the first used one that you find or the one with the most "goodies" on it. There are a lot of good used bikes out there and there are also a fair share that are being sold for reasons you don't want to take on. If you have any friends that own a banshee, take it for a spin so you know what one "should" run like when you test ride it.
