Im looking into buying an 05 450r. Im looking to get any and all info from 05 owners about the bike. I mean everything. Any recalls, defects, general maintenance, handling power, etc. I had a 400 which i loved but had to sell and im looking to maybe get back into it. Is there more routince maintenance with a 450 over the 400. (im sure there is) Please let me know. Thanks everyone.

i love my 05. im sure every one is gonna say the crank bearings fail but mine are fine.very good bike but it may be hard to find anymore leftover 05's i had to have mine shipped in from P.A. and i got mine over the summer. as for maintenance just change your oil often i usually change it after 3 rides but thats just me and all of the other stuff is normal like cleaning the filter, lubing the chain ect. but over all, its a great quad you should be happy.

yea, pretty much what allstock said. It has a low oil capacity so you will have to change it more but thats not a problem.:D Get it and you won't be dissapointed!!!!!!:D :D

It's actually the rod bearing that seems to be the bigger problem. Mine just went and locked up my motor. Crank bearings are gonna go in the first few hours of use, and if they didn't/dont your fine. Keep the filter clean, oil changed, and check the valves, and they're a very good motor. Just remember your buying a race machine so expect more maintainance.

i got mine new for 5200 otd and have not had a major problem yet, i have well over 100 hours on mine and all i have to do is change oil but im a little over due for setting the valves. your supposed to set them every 20 hours but i have not had any problems so far! The bikes are very easy to maintain and are the easiest of all the 450s

Just got back from test riding. Those things have some serious power compared to my old 400. I was verry impressed with the power. Not so sure i want to invest $4000 in a quad right now though.
