I just picked up a 2005 400Ex and was wondering if the 450R shocks are a must have item. I am going to be using the bike for trail riding only no racing and probably no jumping. Are they that much of a noticeable difference? I had a 2005 450R and loved the way it rode but it was just too much maint. So I traded it for a 400EX some may call me crazy but if I want the power of a 450 I still have a CRF450R

For trail the stock shocks are more than adequate i wouldn't change em unless you are going to be doing some mx riding:)

Yea, they are the stuff, but for trail riding I second that one guy's opinion. You'll most likely become addicted to flying through the air, so it'd probably be a good idea for future endeavors and for the hotness factor and cool adjustability features. They're just nice to have.
