Has anyone ever paid to have it done?

What did it cost you?

You can do it! You alrady tore the motor apart, if you can do that you can do the Valves!

By some laping compound and lap the valves first. I will be doing mine in a few weeks for the first time. I have done this on our Jr Dragster motors and it is not hard. You will need to buy a valve spring compressor for sure, but I have one from our cars that should work. It is for Karting motors and they are about $30

Thanks for the replies guys!

I was just seeing what the going rate is!

Swain, I want to learn how to do the valves for sure. My shop I use charges $15/valve to do a valve seat on my head. Not bad!

No, I am dead serious! The head is off and that is for Ti valves too!

If you need it done, send me your head, I'll hook you up!

I know it usually costs well over a $100. ;)

Yea see thats with the head already off the bike . If the head was still on the bike it would be alot more.

shimming is very simple if u need help im me...

i would NOT lap ti valve... there coating is thin and can wear off fast...

the best thing to have done to ur valve seats is get them cut and with a serdi if u can find a company that has one.. i think duncan has a serdi cutter for seats but its expensive but precise.

i would get some steel valves anyway , ti Suck , dont get me wrong there deffinatly light but if u ride really hard and ride alot ur gonna be replacing valves an awful lot. Ur gonna get tired of shimming them also.

SS valves can def take some abuse and with TI spec seats they cool better aswell... but in theory ti valve seats can be sometimes hard on SS.... the only thing that keeps ti valves alive is there coating.... so far i got 150 hours on my ti and there holding up fine... seat bounce and dirt is ti's and valves in general worst enemy, which alot people have going for them but SS is more forgiving.. but on a ti valve once the coating starts to wear its all downhill.

Yes that is a good price! Have them do the seats. Are you adding new Valves? What year is your TRX? You dont wnat to lap the valves like the others said if they are TI. You can do SS or regular steel ones. I think the 05's are just steal and not TI.
