hole in side of jug

What is the hole for in the right side of the jug(sitting on the bike) I had a drip of oil coming out of it the other day and wasnt sure where it went to. The same hole is on the stock jug of my 07 as well.

Thats the drain hole for the recessed area around the spark plug.

Most of the people that have oil coming out there either have a cracked head or a bad gasket somewhere.
