This is where I bought my filters.

short and long filter (http://www.cyclezonektm.com/eshopprod_cat_1633-12420-12458_product_150313_keyword_ktm+AND+oil+AND+filte rs.HI_FLO_OIL_FILTER_SET_FOR_KTM_.htm)

At KTMtalk.com the most popular choice for oil for the 525 was Rotella T Synthetic 5w-40. The Rotella T synthetic is designed for diesel engines. You are not going to find any engine that work under more torque than most diesel engine and mileage intervals than diesel applications so it has a very good additive package and is wet clutch safe. This is what I used on my first change and it made finding neutral much easier.

I would also replace the allen head short screen bolt on the bottom with this one.

RFS short screen bolt (http://brapoffroad.com/bolts.htm)

The stock one likes to round off really bad.

I am running Motorex 10w/50. This is the oil that comes stock in all KTM motors. It is a great oil. Not cheap.

You might want to go here: http://ktmtalk.com/index.php

and do a little reading about the oil and other 4 stroke topics.
