You'll like it, it'll give you a beefier bottom and mid, along with a lil bit more on top.. great for trail riding.:)

youll love it. its for stock motor only. if u plan on doing motor mods soon i would get a stg 2 or 3. plenty more bottom and mid power.

I guess its a hotcam since you said stage 1. Thats a real good deal man if thats what it is..
Also for the next mod, might I suggest a 450r carb. I put it on right after i put my stage 1 in and it helped a lot! A real good setup if you plan on keeping the rest stock for now:cool:

it is really easy to do yourself.i kno it comes with the instructions on how to do it. a good investment would be to buy a clymer or honda service manual. it takes about an hour to do.

Hey if you like wasting money by a stage 1 ...lol
Don't bother I have a totally stock engine and cleaned my buddy's that had a stage 1 cam...we also had the same gearing...and I weigh 40 lbs more then him....lol
If I were to get a cam it would be a stage 2 but haven't drove one with a stage 2 so just guessing... no stage 1...

So what your saying is that your bone stock 400EX with a heavier rider beat a 400EX with stage 1 cam ridden by a lighter rider? And both quads are geared the same!
I find that very hard to believe. What kind of race? Woods or straight drag?

with everything in my sig. done the stage 1 has killed my bottom end. when i get on a steep long climb the motor bogs and almost stalls then when the motor catches back up it comes on so strong u cant even keep strait. i gained hella 3rd gear and on power but lost what bottom grunt i had before the upgrade. dont know? i guess i could go 11:1 and get some back?

That just doesnt make sense .
im going for a full Hmf system tomorrow , i broke the Last slip-on off at the engine side of the pipe .
I reckon im going to have Brilliant mid range power , and second gear is an absolute BLAST to ride with now .
Seems strange to find that with the Cam you are Losing power and not Gaining ..

are you losing power in the lower gears or does it just make the gears seem too short. I had mine geared down a tooth in the front when I built mine up and thought I had lost bottom end but then I went back to stock gearing and it loved it.

naw i gained mid and upper power like it describes but bottom end is almost non exsistent when climbing or coming out of a turn in trails(woods).

i will change gears back to stock and see how it feels. just kept it geared down like i had before, hot cam advertises mid to upper for the stage 1,but my bottom was strong and i figured i would just make the overall power band strong. i try gears and check back. thanks.
