I was looking at buying a custom axis rear shock that was used on a 2005 yfz450. I was wondering if that will fit on my '06 yfz properly, because I know they are different swingarms. Please somebody help me out. Thanks a bunch.

Im not 100% sure but I think they are different sizes. The 06s run a longer shock.

Someone else told me that it will fit but it will sit lower, which would make sense with what you said. How do you like your gt thunder rebuild, would it just be worth getting that done? How much did it cost you? Thanks for the reply.

yeah it will fit but sit lower. I think it would be no more than a inch difference though. Maybe try and use the whole link setup from a 04-05 on your 06 so the shock would be fit it right.
Im really impressed with the GT thunder rebuild and it really works great with my front end. Laz really knows what he doing on his shocks. I got the whole rear kit which includs revalve, respring, for your body weight and I also bought the XC link. it cost $395 and they have a quick turn around time. I beleive you can have the axis shock rebuilt with a longer shaft but will cost some $$$. I would just buy a 06+model shock or have the stock one rebuilt by GT thunder or C@D racing

yeah, I'll probably skip out oin the axis shock. Also do you know if the a-arms are different on the 04-05 models than the 06-07?

a-arms are the same only difference in the front end is the tie rods and tie rods ends. 06 model sare stronger and you can run 06 rods with 05 ends. the treaded part on the 06 tie rod end is a couple of mm thicker than the 04,05 ends.
also the new 700 raptor runs the same a-arms as the yfz.
