i also forgot to ask what the stock gearing is?

Pros- 2-stroke, lighter

Cons- "I hear" the banshee HAS to be in the top end to ride good so tougher to ride in the woods, the handling and suspension isn't much to be desired.

But if you like goin in a straight line, they are real good for that.

I don't have much experience with a banshee but this is wut I think.

pros: fast, great hill climber, awesome power, simply nothing else like it.

con: when you buy stuff you gotta buy two of everything (pipe, piston, carb, etc.), susp. and handling are not up to par with new quads.

when it first cam out it used J arm front suspensions, that only lasted for a year or two before a arm's were utilized. other than that, it is been relatively unchanged since it's introduction in 1987.

stock hp is 35-39hp don't know about torque...

Yeah u might have to buy two exhaust pipes, that's why it adds so much more power.

In stock form the front end feels heavy and the suspension was too soft.

What kind of riding are you planning on doing with it? dunes, mx, ect....?

The stock gearing is 14/41 I think but There were early gearing differences.

Differences were lights, gearing, j-arms to a-arms, rear brake light, axle nuts were changed, handle bars were changed, and some other minor details.

thanks for the reply guys

if you see what the stock torque numbers are PM or tell me

im doing trail riding with it, this well be my first manual quad
i hear it takes some clutch work in the trails
do you think if i drop a tooth up front that it well be better or too low? and if i do how much top speed will i lose 2-5 mph

anyway thanks guys

dropping a tooth in the front will definitly help if you are riding tight trails, but won;t be necessary.

If it will be your 1st manual quad then you have like a 250ex right now?

well we are concidering getting one and i came off a 250 trail blazer i have ridden a semi auto, my old trike
so i asked my dad and during the summer we ride maybe 15 max hours a month and it sits during winter, so how long well it be before having to repuild the top end (it well probably stay stock)
and is it ok to run premium gas
another oil question lol
what is the best or what do you prefer
can you use synthetic?

thanks so much again it really helps

i also forgo to ask
how many cylinder rings does it have?

banshee84
02-26-2007, 04:29 PM
well I had 300+ hours on my top end and I am rebuilding it. The cylinders and pistons looked great. I use bel ray mc1 at 50:1. I think it is semi synthetic.

2 cylinders

Piston rings? Two per piston.

400exrider989
02-26-2007, 05:22 PM
some 2 strokes have only 1 piston ring per cyl
the bansee must have 2

* 1 piston ring per piston sorry guys and girls :(

mine handles great in the trails. I have +2+1 arms with fox shocks and an extended axle. Mine is 50 inches all around. I also run the stock swinger and shock adjusted for zero preload. I want a round house swinger in stock length though. I did my own port work and installed rdz inframe drag pipes and it rips. I can hold my own in wooped out sections and it turns on a dime. Have fun with it, I do.:D

I'm pretty sure the Banshee has two rings per piston.

I also run yamalube, not sure if you knew or not but you premix the gas in the banshee. As for the frame, it isn't weak I jump it and I'm 190lbs and it holds up no problem.

Better build up your hands though:devil: the banshee throttle is an aquired skill along with the clutchin you'll be doing!

i run yamalube 32-1...

banshees are hit and miss... especially if you are buying used... i was lucky enough to get a good one that i never had any problems with... i owned it for about a year and a half, and probably averaged riding it twice a week...

i know others, however, that could never get their banshee to run right... especially after they have had some work done to them...

they are work to ride...

I got my first banshee for xmas and it is 100% the best addition to my quad family. When you have one you are entering a whole new atv world. Its defenitaly a sweet addiction...but not a very cheap one.:) :) :) :)

Sweet. Just break her in easy dont run at full throttle for the first few hours. Run at least a full tank of gas through it before you really start to hammer on it. Make sure to go through all the gears up to 3/4 throttle and let of often it helps get rid of stuff in your motor. Remember it is a brand new motor just be nice to her and she'll be nice to you:)

the first thing I would do is open the exhaust and intake with new pipes of your choice. Don't get DG, I don't care what anyone says.
Second, get a pro design airfilter kit and ditch the stocker.

After all that, work on the suspension. Thats what I should have done instead of the motor work. Because the more power you squeeze out of the motor, the worse the stock suspension will react.

Once you fine tune the suspension, dig into the motor and you will have a blast

i already signed up a while ago
do you go on there?
the first thing im going to do to the banshee is skid plates.
then i want to get some nerf bars.
then i well probably try and get tires.
after all that that is when i well start modding the engine (probably like 2 years)
i well probably get the top end done and get some pipes at the same time, along with a 36mm single carb and take off the TORS.
maybe a clutch but im going to have a really hard time just getting half of these things (which is why i need a job soon)

this brings me to ask, can i run paul turner low/mid pipes with a DMC 916 silencer, because i would like low end power and i love the DMC 916 silencer alot.

thanks guys

Im on that sight all the time. I dont no much about the paul turner pipes. Mine is sand only so ive taken off as much as i could to lighten it up and chose the ever so popular toomey t5s with the two into one filter setup. It is my first of many mods too come.

im 350BANSHEE350 the one asking all the retarded questions on whats best and how to brake in the motor

i also go on forums.atvconnection and most of those banshee guys say to ride it fast and hard during brake in so the rings seal
not go crazy and barke it hard the kinda pin it through all gears hard

well thanks guys

i got it today
i took it for a rip im 14 and 140 pounds
it scares the shiot outta me the front never stays down and it accelerates so fast i cant even see!
im so happy i got one
but im pretty sure that im going to put a 13tooth front sprocket on
fisrt gear is pretty tall and i have to rev it quite a bit more then i thought to get it going

anyways i bought opti-2 smokeless oil for it
the dealer said its the best they have so i ope its good
has anyone heard anything about this oil?

thanks guys

Stock suspension is really bad on the banshee. Any upgrades are a huge difference!! I spent $700 on the following [+2+1 Quisand A Arms, +2 G Force Axle, installed YFZ shocks] & man it's a whole different feel. So smooth as I go over everything!!
