well most of u people opened this forum hoping for a flame fest.with this thread is to put it all to rest.im sick of opening threads to read good information on a quad(raptor or predator) and see imature people talking smack about the other persons quad.so instead of fighting over each others machine just injoy this great activity we partake in.

I've ridden 1 Predator (short ride), 1 Rap660 (a couple hours), and a handful of Rap700s (many hours). All have been in similar states of tune.

I'd take either Yamaha over a Pred. The Rap700 is a really, really good ATV. Depending on what you're looking for, the Rap700 really is tough to beat as an all-around great quad. The 660 has some things I don't like (dual carbs, "tall" feeling) but the 700 has very little I don't like.

The Pred I've been on was a bit of a surprise in the engine department. It was not the slouch I was expecting. But a Rap700 will hand a Pred it's rear in a sand drag race. Without really knowing, I'd guess a well settup Pred would give your average Rap660 a run for it's money in a drag race. Like I said, the Pred's engine surprised me so I'm hesitent to underestimate it.

My big issue with the Pred, like 250r4life said, is the build quality. It just didn't seem up to snuff. Also, I found the air filter and intake settup on the Pred to be a joke (what were they thinking?).

the only reason i drag raced them is because of every body on THIS SITE who was sayin "the raptor smokes the pred and the ds smokes the raptor"well i beat them both.i know its all in rider skill but i just wanted to find out for my self.

The new raptor se is looking really good idk. I love the polaris because my polaris snowmobile kicks ***. But, if it was regular raptor 700 i would go with the polaris because, you gotta love that pro irs. But, the se is looking hot, and has a lot of ground clearance now.

yea polaris sent me that proof dvd too. I actually made copies, and when some raptor kid or other utility kid comes up and says polaris sucks, i tell them to watch the dvd. Then they believe me.

Raptors are the best sand models. People take em' to the dunes and sit on them and pose like models and watch all others with fast bikes race!

That must be why you see so many of them in the hands of professional racers! Rapturds are for Yamaha fans that were to afraid to ride a YFZ. This makes them still feel loyal to big Blue or Orange or Yellow or White or White with blue flames or whatever color they're making em these days. I guess that's how the sand models like em though. Helps match the outfit they're wearing. It's a nice little recreational vehicle though I will give it that.

I'm not getting in the middle of this, both are good bikes. Haven't seen an outlaw but a friend has a predator and it is a good bike, just a little on the heavy side. He has a couple more mods than I do. When he changes his sprockets we are dead on. I've had polaris's before and they are good reliable bikes. I have a 700 now and love it. It mostly depends on the rider's ability to ride....better rider usally wins no matter what they are riding.

MXin700R. It's good to see some one out there who is smart enough to identify and appreciate sarcasm! I always laugh at all the BS that people talk on these sights about other quads and thought id' ruffle some feathers for grins. I actually have a 05 Raptor, 06 YFZ, 05 Z400 and 05 Predator TLD. I don't care what anyone says on any of these sigtes these bikes are all good in there own ways and have there strengths and weaknesses. The important part is to understand that and accept it and as long as your happy with what you have that's what matters. I will defend TLD predboy. The Predator is a fast machine and should never be taken lightly like some of the un-educated people claim. Enjoy your Raptor. I've never ridden the 700 but they look damn nice. Yamaha has some great designers I will give them that.

i ride with all types of people and sport quads. it is not the quad that makes it look slow ,it is the person riding it. the reason yamaha and honda's seem slow,ugly and unreliable are the people who own and ride them.....hehehe.just joking...i own a moded pred but i like anybodies quad.even if it is on a lower level than mine...now that's funny right there ,i don't care who you are..i love you guys..(in a nonhomosexual way)

DOHC, with a screen name like I'm sure that you understand the differences in engine design and state of tune are the reason for the bikes being as close as they are. And therefore why the raptor is more responsive to modifications.

I have rode a few and they fly like a tank, and feel lose to me (alot of rattles)

they do have pretty good pull and over small bumps the susp. soaked them up.

as far as looks you either like it or hate it (at least its original)

your saying hondas and yami's are ugly? polaris just started to make clutched wheelers in what 2003? every brand has done this for years so there for IMO they have a couple years till there in the ranks with the big boys.

Second, dont drag race, take a non bi-ist person for a yami rappy 660, and 700, and a polaris pred. and do 5 drags solo just one machine from point a to point b like 200 yards, have the same rider, do it with the rappy 660 and 700 and a 450r model. get REAL times of what the same rider gets on all of them 5 times each and get a average, and that will determine who wins right guys?? i mean this is a very logical thing to do i would think and im sure a few of you agree.

It's 90% rider so a drag race with one vs the other at the same time isnt fair, you need the same rider to do time trials of all bikes.

3rdly, this proof polaris sent out is a joke!!! i mean there putting out proof of their quad so of coarse its going to be buttered up more then crab meat!! do my second thaught of this post, and then tell us what the real winner is, cause that is the only true and fair way to do it, or get all quads on pavement, and see what one has the fastest stock top speed. A kid i ride with races quads, he has a heavy ** predator stock, another buddy doesn't race anything but has a 98 cr125, just piped and he beats the predator by 1 or 2 bike length's varies tho.

Another point, how heavy is the polaris?? 405 pounds @499cc's.

the yami rappy 700 is 386 pounds at 686cc's, so there for the rappy has a better power to weight ratio, the 660 weighs in at 364 and is 659cc's, and also again better power to weight ratio.

also, dyny all machines with someone who is not particular to one company and see what he gets and compares to the predator, untill then rappy 660/700 vs. predator 500 IMO and many other, mine from first hand site vs. rappys is what im going on, anyways tho

cc's do not equal power, or the 660 would smoke the 450's

the spike hp number on a dyno dont mean that that atv/bike would win in a drag race, the way the power comes on is just as important if not more than the peak hp.

well let people say what they wanna say but i have a predator 500 and a raptor 660 and i can just say 2 good things of the predator 1) its wide 2) good suspension and thats all, i had my raptor way b4 then the predator but once i got the predator y started to love my raptor 660. Polaris suck!!!!! they cant even make there own motor, the new outlaw comes with the ktm 525 i mean that only means polaris suck big time! and i use bought for trail riding, drag racing, and track racing and the raptor is better in anything!

o yeah your right i just looked i saw this one a guy put an fmf fatty on it didnt even rejet and he's putting out like 50 hp dude check it out and this other guy has a straight stock one except he painted the engine and put stickers on it and its torque is of the charts it has more torque then the kfx 700 which is unusual for a 2 stroke :macho

i think all manufactures make a good quad. all of them have flaws and all them shine in other areas. 2 of my riding buddies have a raptor 660 and a raptor 700. the 660 is great in the dunes but thats about it. the 700 is awesome. me and my friend hop on each others machine all the time. he says my 525 is awesome. but its all preferance. he prefers yamahas i prefer polaris. BTW....... my 525 has a JD jet kit air lid removed and stock exhaust my buddies 700 has lid romoved and that GTYR or whatever exhaust and i can beat him by 1 or 2 lenghts in the sand, same results when he is on my machine and i'm on his. the 660 cant keep up with us. that aside, all quads are great in there own right, i have ridden them all and there all great it's just the person's preferance. other than that i would never post in a raptor forum to bash them because i think the raptor 700 is the best performance trail and dune quad after the outlaw 525:)
