400ex front sprocket

I installed a new chain and sprocket set yesterday and today I am helping my friend work on his 400ex. My question is when I changed my front sprocket it is flat on one side and raised on the other, I took mine off and put it back on the same way(raised side in). After looking at my friends bike his front sprocket has the raised part out. Which way is the correct way to install the front sprocket flat side out or in?

ill have to look at my quad tomorow but im almost positive, the raised part goes to the outside.

I'm 100% positive that the raised side is out cus the sprocket lock plate is suppose to go on on that side.

Curve side out, but try this, put your rear sproket on the front and your front on the rear. just try it and and hold on to you butt cause its fast
