sorry to break it to ya but did anyone notice this was the April issue? dirt wheels pulls an april fools quad trick every year. look how they photo shoped the front end its got a small banshee flat radiator piece coming striaght up out of the smooth flowing YFZ hood, if yamaha would have really designed it, it would have been a much smoother design, JMO

I think I remember reading something somewhere a while ago that they were going to be redoing the blaster, and banshee with a 4 stroke engine.

If it does ever come true, I want to buy one as soon as it comes out. I've allways said they should keep the same plastics etc but change the geometry of the frame over to say a yfz or even simular to the 250r and throw some type of crazy 4 stroke motor to live up to the 2 strokes history :p

me 2 i fell for that one, what they should have done for a story is a 2 seater honda like the rhino but a honda, that would be convinsing

haha i never even noticed the suzuki rims... honda should design a quad off of that look tho i thought it looked pretty sweet... and the hippo was last apirl's edition... they said they was gonna put the goldwing engine in it... 1200cc two seater... it was a give away but both of those ideas wouldn't be bad

If you wanna spend 10k or more to get the thing over here.

I am sure Yamaha will have some crazy fast 4poke sometime....But it will never be like the good ole banshee.

I heard they are doing testing on something similar to what is in the magazine, but that is just what I heard from some ppl around my area.

The warrior/raptor350?

nah double the CC's and you have it right

02-26-2007, 07:54 PM
raptor 700?? no offence to any 700 owners, but i rode one and i was very disapointed...my 1987 honda 250 outran one  that i paid under 3 grande for, that still handles better, lighter, easier to fix and better suspension compared to the 7-8 grand 2006 700 raptor....yamaha wont ever be able to replace the banshee, and by the way my banshee walks all over my honda in a drag

i heared that yamaha is tossing around the idea of putting a tunned down phazer motor in the yfz frame.thats what was sopposed to be the new banshee.dirt wheeles made it a joke but yamaha thought it was a good idea.

thats just dealer talk.

Did it have pipe, filter, EFI controler?

02-27-2007, 06:44 AM
didnt ask what it had done, and i dont know anything about EFI and i dont have the desire to either, ill stick to carb...but kinda sad when a 1987 250cc quad can walk away from "the best quad ever made" in 2006-2007 that has a SEVEN HUNDRED CC motor eqipped with EFI...this sport is kinda getting lame IMO

"So, will the new Banshee 500 show up in Yamaha's 2008 lineup? That's the question that our spies overseas can't get accurate info on. It's possible that Yamaha may intentionally hold up its release until all of the 2006 Banshee 350s are sold. Keep in mind that they can still be sold at dealers for years to come, and it was reported that Yamaha made an extra large production run of the last year's model. We'll keep snooping and let you know more as soon as we know."

Corny... thats the last paragraph of the article.

I knew it was the April fools thing as soon as I looked at the cover of the magazine. They kind of killed it after the 750ex in 2002 but they are all still decent ideas.

your 250r was more than 250cc from what you told me....... i think with a EFI/fuel management program pipe and filter the outcome would have been different, but who knows, everything has to loose at some point, theres always someone faster than you.....

it might not all be april fools though either. they might be trying to get a response out of the public to push the manufacturer to produce such a machine. the public has alot of say in what goes and what doesn't

idk if any1 else posted this or not, but did any1 else catch what they said on page 144? the caption for th picture with the red thing in it says,

"Our spy photographer snapped this shot of Volkswagen's new prototype side-by-side machine. Or maybe this is just another Dirt Wheels April Fools joke?"

there you have it...proof that it is just a joke!
