I rebuilt my motor yesterday and it started but today I went to start it and the battery was kinda dead so I recharged it. I tried starting it but it wouldnt and then when my dad saw gas leaking I looked and my airbox was full of gas. I took out the spark plug and it was covered in oil and gas also. Anyone please give me information to solve either or both problems. Thanks.

sounds like the float need stuck and dumped the fuel to it.

What about the oil on the plug?

i know this is dumb but did you also put a new spark plug in when you built it? if it was trying to run rich, you could have fouled the plug trying to start it. fix the float problem first then put a new plug in. try and start it and get back to us.

Yes I put all the rings on. Yes I used a new spark plug when I first started it but it was running rich. I will fix the float and let you know if that helps. Thanks for all the responses.

WOOHOO:D . It runs and it is fine now. My only concern is that I put it in neutral and revved it for a few seconds and the headers turned red no joke bright red:eek:. I checked my spark plug and it was black so I am running rich so what is the problem? Valve adjustment?

Sounds like something is still a little lean,
maybe the needle?

yeah I didnt adjust anything in the needle just the main jet to a 185 just to be rich and safe for now. Later I have a 165 to put in which I think will be right on or close.
