My first question is my 86 LT230S quadsport smokes really bad. It smokes worse once the engine is warm, its a white/blueish smoke. The piston and rings looked fine and seemed to fit tight it is bored 25 over too. The exhaust valve was worn around the out side and very dirty, the intake one looked ok. I replaced the valve seals how ever I am not sure If I did them right I pushed them down as hard as I could and as far down as the would go, could they not have seated right? I just adjusted the valves and it did little if any good. What could be my problem?

2nd question is.. I am trying to wire a kill switch into the 230s, I connect one side to the coil and the other side to ground but it will not kill it, it keeps running like nothing happened. The kill switch is a pro amor and shows closed when the cord is out and open when it is in like it should, how else could I wire it in?

all of them smoke really bad.... about a month after a rebuild they will start to smoke. its just something your going to have to deal with.

how do I wire in that kill switch

and the smokeing is reallly bad, I mean I have put more oil in this thing then gas.

how long ago was it bored over, just looking at the rings doesnt mean alot, your better off looking in the cylinder to see if there is still crosshatch the is uniform, thats a good wear indicator for me

for your wireing question try to wire it inline with the coil and sparkplug so when you flip the switch it goes off and stops the spark from going to the spark plug

whats your oil to gas ratio is this a two stroke i went riding with a guy he had a lt250 and he had a ratio of 40 to 1 so if your putting alot of oil than gas that might be your problem for it smoking
you said earlier that you put more oil in this thing then gas so is it a two stroke or 4 stroke or does it take regular oil i know a friend you had one and he said something like he had to put regular moto oil in it so im not sure if you could answer the questions maybe people could help hope you figure it out

The old Quadsport (the origional) were 4 strokes and started at 230cc to begin with and migrated up to 250cc later in their lifespan.

yeah i know what your talking about.. the exaust on mine had oil in it.... after i got it rebuild it and bored it stopped smoking for a while.

How is that going to work when the kill swtich is normally closed and when the cord is in it its open?

they can be bored out to 250cc?

I don't know about that. As a kid I remember when they first came out and after x years they boosted displacement up to 250cc. What that involved I don't know. Was it larger bore, longer stroke, combination of the two? I couldn't tell you.

I need to turn it off some how and not let it ghost ride across the lake what I fall of it:p , if I ever make it out there:blah:

Know one here knows how to wire one into it?!?!?!:scary:
