I ordered an hmf slip/on uni air filter, and am going to be either taking off lid or makeing holes (if there is enough difference in height to make it worth it)

so, with these modifications what size main jet should I use elevation is between 700-900 ft

Thanks

A 165 main will be to rich try a 155 or a 158 main that will be better.

Don't forget a 42 pilot, needle clip to the 4th setting (one under stock) and 2 3/4 turns out the Fuel screw.

the sales rep from c&d said to use 165 if I am takeing airbox lid off or 158 w/ lid on

will it get a lot dirtier in there with out the lid on, and is it really that big of a difference without the lid then with the lid?

will needle clip and fuel screw be pretty obdvious once I get in the carb?

Thanks

I have a 02 400ex with a Full HMF Exhaust, K&N, and no air box lid.

I was told to go 165 main by precision powersports. I am also in PA so our elevations are similar. Mine seems to be great. Jetting seems like one of those things though you can find people to tell you all sorts of different things.

I don't mean to hijack, but no sense in posting another thread with the same point.

I just installed a Sparks full exhaust and a K&N filter with precharger, and I'm gonna remove my airbox lid. What do you guys recommend for my main, pilot, and whatever else thanks

js if the sale is rep is Colby I would listen to him, he helped me out and was right on with the jetting for me. I cant say about the air box, i guess if you want it off plan on cleaning your filter more often and not ride where it has standing water. I took my lid off and put a K&N air filter lid. I use the uni filter as my main filter. the K&N is nice because it will help repel water and dirt and add more clean air. only down side is that it is $100 but that is nothing compared to messing up your engine and it seems like everything together really woke up my quad.

I ride through standing water A LOT, the trails ALWAYS have puddles

so... I guess I am leaving lid on

how much difference is there between lid and no lid as far as performance & jetting

You get more throttle response without a lid on, but it does get dirty in the box.

I am more worried about water then dirt, the trails aren't that dusty (they are pretty rocky and a good amount of BIG puddles)
