Try a 42 pilot 165 or 170 main, needle on the 4th slot from top and the fuel screw out 3 turns.

I would probably go a little bigger then that on the main jet. I ran a 440 with roughly the same mods and ended up with a 185 main in it before It felt good through the middle half of the rpm range. I agree ont he pilot though... a 42 sounds right down there.

It depends on his altitude, start with the 170 main first. I've never suggested a 185 main yet to a person.

Well I wouldnt have thought I could have used that much fuel either, but for the combo I had it worked great. Like you say elevation plays into it, I also had a 416 with a big Web racing cam and 11-1 piston and I ran a 170 in it. Never had any trouble with it running rich.
Are you planing on moving your needle any?
