I have a dual rate comp adj. axis rear shock off a 400ex that I just removed and cleaned up. The springs rotate pretty easily when I handle the shocks. I know there is no pressure on the shock, but is this normal? If I hold the shock upside down, the is about 1/8in gap between the bottom of the spring and the plate that it rests on.

Thanks-Max

That just means the preload is completely backed off the spring. If you have to run the preload that loose to get the ride height set you need to put on a lighter spring.

Your right Colby the preload was backed all the way out. I didnt know if Axis set them up like that so I didnt mess with it at first. But I ended up cranking down on the preload a bit and the springs dont move so much now.
