sup guys. im installing my aluminum air box on my 2001 400ex. I have a +1-1/4 Lonestar swing arm and the elka long travel linkage. I also have the 450r carb on there. Im having alittle problem though. When i put the air box in, it seems that its alttle too big and it may hit the swing arm when the shock is fully compressed. Im not too sure if it will but... i dunno im currently building my bike so, i wanna figure it out now before i ruin my box when i go off a jump. Its a CFM air box. Has anyone else ever experienced this problem? If so what did u do about it? All help would be great. Thanks

With the linkage it probably will. You have to mount it up higher.

Is it a "BOX' or is it tappered from front to back?

its the actual box here is the link to it. http://www.cfmracing.com/fullsizeimg/trx400ex-aluminumairbox.jpg

If i mount it higher though, wont it hit the rear plastic cover and it wont latch in all the way? I also called up cfm performance, and they said they never had a problem with that before.

Well I know GT thunder says you have to mount the air box up higher when you use their long travle linkage. They also say you have to mod your subframe so it dont smack on your sprocket.

The simplest test is to remove the springs from rear shock, mount the box and see if the box hits when the shock collapses.
