Since i've got my bike i've just been using the 10w-40 honda oil and im pretty sure thats all that the guy before me used and thats fine but in the summer it gets pretty hot here. I've heard that its better to just keep using the same oil than to change the type like 20-50 or somethin more suitable for the hot temps. Is there any problem from switching from the GN4 oil to fully synthetic 20w-50?

okay if ur not passing like 120 degree weather every day stick with 10w40.. second go to synthetic... using non syn. in these motors for a long time will show wear... go to honda dealership and get some hp4m.... honda oil 10w40 with moly. just for the engine side this wont work FOR THE TRANNY.

this is the best stuff to use period.

you can switch to 20-50 if you so choose. Like Lumi said you probably dont need it that thick though. I've been running 10-40 klotz full synthetic motor oil and klotz 85w gear oil, and I love it. A good synthetic oil will help to keep the motor cool too if your running it hard. The honda synthetic is also a very good oil.

For racing during the summer months here in AZ I'll go to 20w50. Other than that, definitely 10w40.
