TRX400/ 250R hybrid

I am looking at purchasing a trx400 that has a 2 stroke 250 motor in it. The quad is mechanically sound but has a little surface rust. I plan to buy it, completely strip it down nad do a few things:
1) Powder coat the frame, A-arms, hubs etc.
2) Rebuild the motor.
3) Put new honda O.E.M plastics on
How does this sound?

I think thats awsome, i personly want to do that to my 400ex. I personly like 2 strokes better than 4 strokes. When i bought my 400ex it was the same some suface rust (and all the brakes were screwed up) but i stripped it down and painted the frame and fixed everything, overall it was worth it.

That depends, most people find that the 2 strokes arnt as competitive as the 4 strokes but it all depends on the rider some people are more comfortable on 2 stroke powerband then they are on the 4 strokes low end power. Ive ridden 250 2 stroke dirtbikes before and they have alot of power.

I wouldn't race it competitively, I wold just have it to play around with at the track.
