Ok, as the title says, I just my clutch parts. I searched this forum about install info, but nothing was too specific. I have a few questions?

1. Do I soak all the parts (all the different discs and stuff) that came in the Tusk Kit in oil?

2. My basket does not have an offset notch for the top disc. Thats normal right? Look at the pic below.

3. What order do I install the discs and stuff?

4. Anything special? I have read about offsetting discs, but nothing was to specific can I get some more info?

I know you have to soak the clutch fibers in oil for a whole day i think.

1. soak the fiber plates in the oil you use (new oil) for 10-15 minutes prior to instalation

2. it is normal, most aftermarket baskets do not offset the top plate

3.start with a fiber, end with a fiber alternating fiber/steel/fiber/steel etc.

4. offseting refers to offseting the last disc on a stock basket, can't do that with yours.

Should I thread lock anything? If so red or blue, and what do I thread lock?

Thanks

you have to drill out the rivets that hold the old basket to its gear, then use the bolts supplied with the new basket to attatch the gear and the new basket. you should apply red loctite to those threads and then peen the bolts. peening refers to using a punch to ding the end of the bolt and the metal surrounding it so that the bolt CANNOT back itself out. heres a pic

Ok, thanks for all the info and pics. What did you do to tighten the center nut? Did you get a new center nut or use the old one?

Thanks

Is there anyway I could make a tool out of some of the old plates? Possible attach a bar or something to it? Anyone seen anything like that?

Thanks

Anyone know if that is possible?

Why? What are you trying to accomplish? If your just trying to hold the basket still to tighten it, just use an impact gun. Then no worries. ;)

Sharp side of the metals face outward. The metals have a bunch of little fingers going around the insde which lock onto the inner hub. If you run the tip of your finger over the fingers you will see there a sharp and rounded side.

Impact works best at getting the center nut off. I don't buy a new nut unless the threads are messed up or someting is wron with the nut. If you don't have an impact you can put a penny in between the gears to lock them while you loosen the nut.

I have the center nut off, I need to get it back on. I just need to know a good way to get it tight, cause last time I broke my clutch basket tightening it. How exactly does the penny thing work? I used a wrench, but thats what broke the basket.

Also are those spring on the back of the clutch basket supposed to fit tight into the basket? Most of mine just drop in and pull out. Just thought I would make sure before I red locktite and peen the sprocket on. Let me know.

Thanks

Would that penny in the gears thing work? Or would it still be able to spin? I need to figure something out.

Thanks

Ok, got everything on, and I am ready to tighten the center nut. Should I use lock-tite on it? If so red or blue?

Thanks
