Anyone know what the stock rev limiter is set at for a 2005 400EX? I am buying a Vapor tach from Trail Tech and want to know what to set the shift points and red line at.

I thought it was 9100 rpm, but 9250 sounds pretty close.

Was the rev limit changed? I know for a fact that the rev limit for 99-01 is 9100 rpm.

How do you know that it's 9100? I always thought it was 9250.

It's stated in Honda's specifications. Trust me, it's 9100. Do a online search as well, it'll tell you the same thing.

eh, we were close. i was going by aftermarket rev limiters that set it 1000 above stock, and they claim to set it at 10250. so 10250-1000=9250. but no matter what it is, 9100 or 9250, it should be close enough for him to use to set his redline on his tach with.

Yeah, a hundred rpm or so won't matter. I just want to be fairly close. I do a little dune climbing out here in northern nevada and just want to know how far I can safely push it! Thanks for all the imput!

i have the vapor, i dind''t even really try to set the shift light or redline light, you have to be looking directly at the 'puter to see them, unless it is night time

How do you like it?

i love it, just as i did the endurance computer on my 400ex. the tach feature is nice...i bought it more for distance traveled and to check my idle since i had upped it on my 06 450r to help with the fcr carb bog.

but like i said, the two warning lights mean nothing during the day unless you are looking straight at it...

here is some video of it...pay no attention to the rattling, i had just completed changing my oil and the skid plate was off, but the clamps for it were still hanging on the frame...they are what is rattling

vapor in action (http://media.putfile.com/450r-vtrail-tech-vapor-computer)

Looks good! Can't wait to get mine installed! Did you use the plastic mounting brackets that came with the kit? Do you have any problem with the unit vibrating? In other words do the plastic brackets give it a good solid mount while riding?

i used it once, until i got the billet protector. get that, the plastic things are junk and put the vapor in a bad place...
