What are the physical signs that your rockers are wearing out? I have my head off right now, and was wondering what I should look for.

scratches or divits in the face and take them off the rail and inspect those surfaces just like you would any other bearing.

I have been told that they are not thru hardened but chromed so look for flaking or missing pieces of shinny stuff on the rocker face.

Heres some damaged rockers. I can try to get a better pic if needed since I have the 4 rockers right here.

JustRace, thanks for the pics. that 2nd one is great. So if rockers look like that, can they be hardfaced (which is just a process of welding more material on & machining the surface, right?)or are they fubar?

Just send them out for hardfacing & grinding. No need to buy new ones.

I also have a stock 400ex cam and piston sitting here too. So if anyone needs a pic of those let me know. I didn't keep my damaged cam but it basically looked like the rockers.

Thanks, but I don't need it right now, but if I ever need to take a picture from a drunk persons perspective i'll be sure to get a hold of you. :D
