Please school me on wheel sizes

Got a very basic question. I've been riding for a long time, but never had anyone explain to me the difference between tire/wheel sizes. I just bought a set of 18x10x8 Holeshots and I need to know what wheel size to get. I'm pretty sure I just need 8 inch wheels, but will stock Honda 400ex wheels work? What sizes will fit on stock Honda rims?

Usually stock Honda wheels come in a 9 inch diamater which is indicated by the last number in the tire size. So your new 18x18x8 will not fit, any 8x8 rim will suit your purpose just fine. :)

That is what I was thinking...thanks for clearing it up for me. This is just going to be a spare set, so I will go looking for some 8x8's. Thanks again.

break down the number like this

18 is tire height

10 is tire width

8 is rim diameter

hondas have 9 in rear wheels, i beleive all sport quads these days come with 9 inch wheels.
