I havent followed the dirtbike racing for awhile...Can someone give their input on which ones are good and whats not good about the other ones...Im mainly looking at the kawasaki, suzuki, honda and yamaha.. Back in the day when i raced 125s...you could pretty much just pick the color you wanted and the bike would be right with the others..is it still this way or is one out ahead of the rest? o yea Im only looking at the 250f's

i would say go with honda or yamaha. my friend has a kawi and all sorts of bolts have fallen off, plastics seems to just be falling apart, my other friend has two yami's and they are good bikes that are almost allways ready to ride with low maintance. and honda dont have expererince with but its a honda so im sure its good haha, one other thing i heard is that honda has a lower center of gravity than the yamaha so its a little easier to manuver. just my 2 cents

Its still pretty much pick your color and go ride. All of the 250f's from the big four are VERY close to one another in stock form. However, each person is goin to have a different opinion on each model. Best thing to do is pick up some dirtbike magazines or search some forums to find which one might be the best for your needs. And these are high performance bikes that DO require frequent maintainence to keep them running to full potential. Also don't forget about KTM's.

well depends what year your wanting to get. If ur gunna get one from 04-06 get the honda or yamaha. If you going to get a newer one from 07 the kawasaki makes an aweosme 250 now. They fixed all the problems from the previous years. And for the suzuki same goes with kawasaki they had there problems in 04-05 but 06-07 they fixed em.

Assuming you're looking for an 07, the CRF is a good bike, nothing special, dual pipes are a gimmick. RM-Z is a sick bike. It turns like no other, just like every other suzuki. Downside is the motor just isn't there. A Pro Circuit Ti-4 GP system really brings it right to life and much nicer to ride. If you get the Lowboy header the power is nut's low/mid but it falls on top. The KTM has the best motor, lots of power everywhere. downsides obviously being the suspension and handling. YZ is a great bike, it's a great motor, reliable, and a good all around package, the most competitive in stock form. The 07 KX250F is a great bike too, right with the Yamaha but lacks a little bit of power. Most mag shootouts have the KXF in top spot overall. 2. Suzuki 3. Yamaha. 4. Honda 5. KTM.

I owned a 2004 crf 250, great bike had no problems at all. One thing i loved about that bike was the torque! The motor was all stock other than a chm system p 4r exaust. I would recomend one any day

Dont get a honda, look at the reviews, every one says they got valve problems and a few outher problems, yamaha is the best cauz they were the first to come out woth a 250 4 stroke. kal and suz and honda didnt come out with theirs untill around 04 and yamaha been out since 01. It seems to me that kal and suz rushed to get their 205 4 stroke out on the market. yamaha all the way

Ps. Im buying a 01-04 yz250f- 04 offer is 2,675 if in good cond. i donno how much offer for 01 is, i will think about it,...lol:D

Man this is a really old thread. I dont mean to afend u but have u ridden a 250, ur signature says ur on a pw 80 lmao. U might want to buy a yz 85 before ur buy a 250. Ive ridden almost all the 250 except the ktm and i will say i like the honda thats why i owned one.

I've ridden the 07 kawi, honda, and yamaha on the same track. I felt most comfortable on the Honda and Kawi. I liked the power of the Honda the best also... Kawi handled great... Yamaha, still a solid bike.

They are all pretty reliable these days... out of those 3 the Kawi would probably be the least reliable. I know pleanty of people with CRF's and have never had valve problems. I think that was more on the 450f's than the 250f's. You can nitpick all you want with all of them... just find one you feel comfortable on and RIDE.

Honestly dude, its all the same. You pick the color, and if you know how to ride, you will win. Its all preference, unless your a die hard racer and every little spec helps.

The only thing that i highly advise is to do your research. You can change any of the 250's to your likings. Theres just such a huge after-market for these bikes it's rediculious.

So in the end, if you plan on putting a pipe on and revalving the suspension, they're all really the same, ( except ktm with its no link rear suspension)

well my freind steven bought a 07 yama this year ( 2 stroke ). been a pretty good bike other than fowling plugs but we pulled the head and cleaned the gunk that built up and no more fowled plugs so far. and he has replaced the back tire already and not even done a ring job yet.

im 15 and the pw 80 is my bros bike, my bro is like 9 or 10..., i rode a crf250f,yz250f.kx250f, and a rmz250... along with every 125 and a yz250 and kx250 2-stroke...

Honda has valve problems, the kx250f and rmz250 were horrable untill 06-07...yamaha never had any problems except for the first 2001 model, its jsut hard to start, if u replace a part thats only 180 dollars its fine.

The 01-05 yzf's were heavy as hell. You seem pretty gay for yamahas. They all have their problems.

A buddy of mine races a Suzuki 250F. He just upgraded to the '07 and he's crazy fast on it. He's always raced Suzuki's though but they've always seemed to work for him, he's always getting first.
