Ok, heres the scenario. LSR AXLE. 4 years old. Sprocket hub is stripping, and the chrome is chipped off. And its bent, about 1-2 inches of wobble. If I send it to get straightened: it will (1)be weaker than it is. (2)still look like $h1T (3)still have a stripped sprocket hub cuz LSR dont warranty those. I need break this sucker! Preferably not while ON MY QUAD!!! LMAO. It needs to be a clean break, like it happened while racing. Give me some ideas, legitimate ideas please. I am dead serious.

DMC mx400ex
09-30-2002, 08:54 PM
um i think they could prob tell but if u bend it past a ceirtain point they will replace. just heat it hup with a torch or something and beat on it.

racerx573
09-30-2002, 08:55 PM

09-30-2002, 08:57 PM
If you heat it up they can tell, it will leave blue marks.

DMC mx400ex
09-30-2002, 08:59 PM
ummm paint it blue?lol

09-30-2002, 09:01 PM
Dude my axle is rusted! LOL. I have to scrape the rust w/ steel wool after each washing!!! The only chrome left on it is the part conceale by my carrier. If it does turn blue even if it is rusted, I'll find a way to cover it up! LOL.

here is an easy way to destroy an axel, make a large dobule, 50ft or so, and case it all day, hittin only the rear end if possible, and jus landin on the rear, one tire landings bend it extra fast, or jus hit a tree

racerx573
09-30-2002, 09:03 PM
I dont want any collateral damage to me or my quad though. Cant you see why Im doin this? Cuz Im broke! LMAO! Cant afford to buy a new one or take the chance breakin it, or anything else in a race.

09-30-2002, 09:04 PM
take a bunje cord and hang urself in a tree, then get on ur quad and ride as fast as u can making only the left rear tire slam into a tree as ur quad is left spinning and rolling ul be swinging in the tress:blah

Bean
09-30-2002, 09:05 PM
well, bend it wit a hammer, like jam the hub into the ground or into a vise, and start pullin, or use a crowbar or something to pull wit, or a tyedown or something, that will bend her, and then put it back on the quad, and make it look like u crashed it

If you heat it up enough to bend it, it will leave discoloring. They can tell id you have done this. Just get a real long pipe and bend it with trhat.

I got a better idea then all off them put together. tie a piece of string onto the hub and the other to a door and then close the door really really fast.

no seriously.

use a vehicle somehow. put the axle behind a tree and tie a rope to both ends like a V and then tie the other end to your hitch. then start gassin it.

I need to make sure it brakes on either side of either hub. Cant have it break in the center or close to the bearing surface.

09-30-2002, 10:03 PM
Get Nate Frees to jump it for you. Buy an RPM next time. They make the best stuff.

racerx573
09-30-2002, 10:13 PM
Yeah RPM is definite next on the list! I can get anotherLSR for $200 from a friend though. Im gettin an antifade for $50!

forum had a good idea but, find a old carrier put the axle though and old hubs, then put the the carrier behind the tree and chaining hub to hub now pull with a truck, it will break or turn into a U lol

09-30-2002, 11:30 PM
hey zittel , just take a sledge hammer and start bashong it till it breaks

racerx573
10-01-2002, 06:06 AM
The idea with the carrier is a goood idea. If its bent beyond a certain point, wont they replace it??

10-01-2002, 08:46 AM
If it's an 1/8 of an inch out of whack they replace it not straighten it,,it sounds like your in the good for having it replaced..heck call them up and ask how much it has to be bent before it will be replaced..

I know when I bent my durablue It had some wobble but nothing drastic,,,i would have bet the pig farm they would have straightened it but nope,,they sent me a new axle..

To give comparison on how bent mine is.....on Huevos 3, on the "SoCal" part when it has Creech and Ellis riding, and it shows Creech with a bent axle, mine's somewhat in that range, but not as bad. I will try to measure it when I get home, and I will call them up and see what they say. Its definitely more than 1/8" outa whack.

10-01-2002, 12:04 PM
I am not sure about LSR, but Durablue wants you to have all the original paperwork, bill of sale, warranty card, and they wanted it registered at time of purchase or no dice......

I am having the same problem as u. Cept I got screwed on mine. I paid a guy 300 bucks for a nice LSR 250R axle with a antifade locknut. Well when i got it it was rusted to crap, no spacers, no end nuts, and just the oem lock nuts, no anti fade or anything, talk about being pissed off. So i came up with a plan to break it and send it back, get a new one and sell it for 300 bucks to get my money back. Well I tried everything. I even gave it to a freind of mine who stuck it in a 50 TON,,, yeah thats right, 50 TON press at his work, he stuck it in there and it bent down and it was in a u shape, looked like it was about to break, so he ran and hid, and waited for it to pop, nothin happend, he looks around, its just sittin there, so he lets the press off, hopin it will be bent and I can send it back like that, nope, it goes sproing!! back straight as an arrow. :huh makes u wonder what a person has to do to break it. I have an idea though, i have yet to try it out though, I havent found my supplies yet. Get that corrugated drain pipe, you know that black stuff, stick the axle in there, fill it up with dry ice, let it sit a little, then take it and put in a press and it should pop like a tooth pick. and the pipe doesnt go flying everywhere.

jason i told u get it on a tree so the tree is half way on each side... of the bend... get 2 tie downs to other trees with ratchet systems and crank that thing down... it will bend it like a pretzel right where the tree is;) :huh

I would say... Sky Diving on your quad and forgetting to pull the shoot is a sure way to break an axle...

by that time he would end up breaking his swingarm and that would be as much as the axle and he doesn't even know if he'll get a new axle if the axle breaks.

i had a durablue that i had a similar problem with. i used our press here in our shop. well i got mine to bend. maybe that shows that durablues r softer? but like x-rider said, i bent it way down and i was like cool its bent, but let off of it and it was straight so i really cranked on it and finally bent it far enough. but i had problems since and now have a LSR. but i dont know how much goos all the other suggestions will be except the car and tree one, but ur gonna have to yank on it hard then maybe. i guess it would be like slammin down from a ju mo. so a lot of force really quick.

heres what u do, make sure u have good insurance on your quad. Put it on a trailor behind your truck(make sure u do it OUT of racing season) and ACCIDENTALY dont tie it down too good. ANd let it roll off the back of the trailor at 60+ mph. LOL this is sure to completely bend your axle, and quite possibly your whole quad, but hey....thats why the stupid gov. makes us pay insurance right????

Its pretty much the same deal u ahve with your car. U pay so much a month..i pay.....15 a month and if something should happen to your quad, then they will tell u to get an estimate and fix it. The only thing is, if they know u are racing.....no insurance for you. Its required here in PA, but with how much the insurance is getting shafted i cant see them keeping it up for long. My frame just cracked.............looks like im getting ahold of insurance!!! HHHMMMMM not i just gotta find a way to hide the race trailer!!!!:D

double up on some wheel spacers or make some kinda spacer to snap the axle. jus a sugestion. or try usin some strong acid on the axle in a small spot then jump it.
