if you like riding 3 wheelers get the 85 250R, if you prefer 4 get the 88 LT. parts are easier to get for the honda(there were so many made), but the Lt isn't a bad machine.

I would get the 88 lt because i am a die hard quad fan but its your choice.

I had an lt250. It was a great quad. Stock for stock the lt250 was a faster machine than the 250r quads (I have had both and still have a 250r so don't think I am bashing the 250r).

Personally, I don't care much for riding 3 wheelers. My buddy recently bought an 84 250r. I was quickly reminded why ATVs now have 4 wheels.

Parts are probably easier to get for the 250r, but I still see several lt250 parts on ebay.

It would be an easy call in my mind - get the lt250. Now if you find a 250r four wheeler, I would probably reconsider.

def. go for the suzuki over the 85 atc250R. the ol quadracers are fun quads, and they get a lot of attention thats for sure.

this is biased here! but i love suzuki's. i've had a lt250r that i mx. just do everything right the first time and they hold up great. get the lower end checked out, make sure the counterbalance and crank are fine (reduce vibration) and take care of the waterpump. the rebuild kits for the waterpumps are like $15. i haven't had any problems with mine. keep it greased...

ohh, man, thats beautiful! i always wanted to ride one of those, I heard the power is crazy!! how hard was it to mount that motor in the 250 frame?

i had someone do it, but on the 91-92's, it took alot of work, more so for the carb too. new motor mounts, custom pipe and silencer. the same guy who built the pipe is doing my top end. that's not my engine in the pic, just the frame and pipe. i got rid of the lsr arms and went back to burgard's +3's, since i'm running the 4 1 offset rims. i'm sticking with a stock blue frame too, i didn't like the white so much. now if i could only get someone to build me custom long travel arms....
here's a link with lots of pics

if you like trikes(like me), get the atc250r, most of the 4 wheeler parts are the same. Some may say that trikes are dangerous, but its all about the rider and his/her skills. Trikes require a different skill to ride good, once you get that skill down pat, you can hop on a 4 wheeler and go faster easier and have longer endurance. I mainly ride my trikes and when I ride my quads, its so easy, its almost cheating. I would get the trike and learn to ride it good(learn from an expierenced trike rider), when you ride to a quad, you will be that much better at them. Trikes require a leaning and countersteering skill that you can't learn from quads and also you will learn to use the rear end to turn, which can be very handy at times too. I find that it makes you a better rider all around. I ride trikes(the most), dirtbikes and lastly quads(the least often). Not everyone can ride a trike, once you do, quads seam really easy to ride and you can go alot faster.

are you taking about the lt250r with not much aftermarket parts? Susuki parts are kinda hard to get. I knew someone who had a lt250r and lt500r, he had a hard time getting parts. He later sold them and got a trx250r. I don't have problems to find parts for 3 and 4 wheeler 250r's. Alot of the parts for the 4 wheelers fit the 3 wheelers, they don't advertise it. If you do get the trike, the guys at www.3wheelerworld.com can help you out with parts, as well as the 4 wheeler engine parts and rear end parts. There is many still available.
