You cut one of the wires under the hood, it gives you an extra 1000 RPM's, just for cutting the wire, theres a picture around of what wire to cut, ill try and find it for you

this mod for those without the HRC kit, to increse the rpms...you just cut the wire instead of buying the harness included in the kit...and for those debating it, i sat on the fence for awhile, then cut it one day and wow, definately should be the first thing you do when ya bring it home from the dealer, then jet it with no lid and send the shocks off shortly after

You can buy the HRC sub harness if you don't want to cut the wire. C&D sells them for $13.50.

I've heard that not only does it increase RPMs, but it also changes the mapping also........don't know for sure but there is a gap in the continuity of my green wire for some reason...

I just bought a 07 450 on Friday, if i cut this wire, can i still do the HRC kit down the road?

I would just get the HRC sub harness as Dave400ex mentioned. An easy mod for cheap and you don't have to worry about cutting or messing anything up. Plus you can always put it back to stock easier.

yes a better way to go would be a hrc sub harness...

no1 with a stock quad should even do this mod u will barely feel anything and the power curve will change which might make u think u have gained something but u havent... the mod is for a cam that keeps creating power in the upper range... imo even with a hrc cam u shouldnt play with the higher rev because its just wear and tear but if u need ever ounce of power than do it...
1000 extra rpm is hard on ur valve and extra wear for ur engine.

Ahhh c'mon Lumi... rpm good, compression good, ugh. :)

He's right about not doing it to a stock motor - there's no point. It won't help. It's only there to allow a little more rpm if you install a cam that makes power in the higher range.

ok that makes sense, ill be looking at getting a hot cam probably in a month or 2. I probably wont even need another 1000rpm since all ill be doing is mostly trail riding.

If your not sure about this you dont have to cut the wire. Just use a pick and bend the tab that holds the pin in place.Pull the pin out and do a test run.If you dont like the way the quad runs you can just push the pin back in and it will be back normal.
