it wasnt lose until i took it to breezwood and then i felt something but i wasnt sure what it was. then i finally figured it out when i could see the axle moveing back and forth about 1/4 inch. when i took out the carrier the barring were gone and the carrier had to be replaced. i dont want to put it back together and mess up the new stuff.

that looks fine to me. you can always weld it up and turn it back to size. (thats what id do).

Take a new bearing and slide it over the axle,to see if it is loose or not.The inner race for the sprocket looks a little grooved, that may let water seep by the carrier seals.

I think your sprocket hub is the bigger concern as it will not make good contact with the seal

Go the extra mile and get a new axle...i had the same problem when my bearings went...they chipped the axle apart...if you put the bearing carrier over that axle like it is now, it will just wobble up and down and tear out the bearings again
