ok i got a 86 250r. i ran a short rod crank with a 86 style piston and no spacer plate when i first bought it. well then it screwed up a rod bearing so i swapped over to a 87-89 style longrod crank with my 86 style piston and a spacer plate. well now we got a new cylinder that ported out and polished. its broed .60 over. i was wondering if i could use a 87-89 style piston .60 over without the spacer plate? or could i run an 82-84 style atc piston in it? all help appreciated cuz i want htis thing done lol!

here are the opinions:
1. 86 piston and spacer plate
2. 87-89 piston

Here are some more options with the 87-89 long rod
83-87 YZ250 piston with 2mm spacer plate. If you use the YZ piston in a 87-89 OEM cylinder, I think the ring pins need to be moved so they don't catch a port
97-01 CR250 flat top piston with 2mm spacer plate. But you head must be cut right to use the flat top CR piston

easiest would be the 87 piston...just pop it on and go!
